For an industry-leading financial institution, achieving and maintaining a competitive edge isn’t left to chance. The IT executives behind Wachovia’s Corporate and Investment Banking division understood that in order to achieve the speed and agility necessary to remain competitive, they had to understand how proposed changes would affect the enterprise. That knowledge would allow them to make the right decisions about where to make IT investments that deliver business benefits.

By applying the right governance processes, practices, and tools to the implementation of its SOA strategy, IT executives were able to manage IT as a portfolio of assets. In doing so, they gained visibility into the relationships and dependencies that connect the services and other assets in that portfolio to the business bottom line. That visibility took the guesswork and the gamble out of strategic IT investment, and helped to deliver ongoing value by ensuring alignment with business goals.

In this webinar you’ll learn about the details of that strategy, the technologies used, and how the strategy has paid off. Sid Kaw, VP of Portfolio Management at Wachovia, will discuss the company’s SOA journey and the critical role governance played in achieving its goals, including:

  • How to keep business and IT aligned through SOA governance practices
  • Applying a portfolio management approach to SOA
  • Lessons learned in governance and reuse
  • Reducing risk in enterprise transformation through SOA

Bob Carina, Unit Executive at BEA Systems, will explore key governance practices, and discuss governance “gotchas”.

In addition, here is a valuable resource for you to access and download to find out why Forrester named BEA a leader in SOA Service Life-Cycle Management.

Quick Guide: What is Enterprise 2.0?

A lot of people are talking about Enterprise 2.0 as being the business application of Web 2.0 technology. However, there's still some debate on exactly what this technology entails, how it applies to today's business models, and which components bring true value.
