Dr Ramarao is the Chief Architect of HCL Middleware and SOA practice. He leads a team of global architects, to provide architectural consulting, evaluation, and implementation. Dr. Ramarao has a long and distinguished career in IT. After his bachelor degree in computer science from IIT Madras, he completed his Ph.D. in programming languages from Rice University. Later, he joined Bell Labs, where he was part of a team researching very large databases and billing systems. His first company that he founded with colleagues from Bell Labs specialized in developing B2B billing systems. In the current role, he helps companies in their IT strategies, in particular using SOA. In addition to several papers in the area of data bases, Dr. Ramarao has several patents and papers to his name in the area of on-line organization of large data. He co-authored a book on SOA security to be published by Manning publishers.

Prasad A. Chodavarapu is Dy. General Manager responsible for delivery excellence at HCLÍs Middleware and SOA group. Prasad builds and advises highly skilled teams that deliver SOA solutions to enterprises worldwide. Prasad obtained his bachelors degree, B. Tech (hons.) in Mechanical Engineering, from IIT Kharagpur. Later he completed his MS in Mechanical engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-champaign.
Rama and Prasad are authors of the "SOA Security in Action" book that will shortly be published by Manning publications. They have been applying open source technologies in business for the last ten years. They believe that open source projects offer the best playground for learning technologies and best practices that can also be applied when working with enterprise-class products.
