Architects and business analysts are discovering a new way to give their companies a competitive advantage. They are tapping the information value that is hidden within the streams of real time event data that are springing up from a variety of sources such as Web click streams, financial transactions of many types, sensor networks and supply chains. This session will summarize the promising new field of event processing. You will learn:

  • What is the role of event processing on sense-and-respond, track-and-trace, "zero latency," situational awareness and business activity monitoring (BAM) strategies?
  • How does event-driven architecture (EDA) compare and contrast with service-oriented architecture (SOA)?
  • Where will companies find tangible payback from business event processing and which vendors will lead in this market?
