The Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP) is an open specification for pervasive, message-oriented integration. It provides an open specification for both the broker capabilities and the wire-level format for asynchronous, secure, portable and efficient integration. Though many networking protocol scenarios have been addressed with open standards, a large gap existed in common guaranteed-delivery messaging middleware. Such middleware is a necessary utility; it underpins mission-critical IT systems and plays a key role in automating business processes in medium and large organizations. The AMQP specification fills the gap and enables complete interoperability for messaging middleware by addressing both the network protocol and the semantics of the broker services. AMQP is being developed by The AMQP Working Group consisting of both users and vendors, and AMQP is also being implemented today in open source software.
John O'Hara, VP and Distinguished Engineer at JPMorgan Chase, will provide an introduction to AMQP and the value of an open standard for message-oriented integration. Debbie Moynihan, Director of Open Source with IONA Technologies, will discuss how the AMQP protocol is being implemented in open source software today. Attendees of this webcast will learn about AMQP and the value of this new open integration standard. |
