The concept behind enterprise integration — enabling real-time information sharing — sounds great, but implementing integration on a strategic enterprise-wide basis involves non-technical issues (governance, funding and control), and poor communication between the business units and the technology teams can derail the best integration plans. What is needed are best practices for championing integration and communicating the benefits to both technical and business audiences. This can take the form of an Integration Competency Center, and an agreed upon methodology for developing the business case and a value assessment to determine the opportunity and benefit potential. Conor Keane - As senior vice president of Global Services, Conor Keane is responsible for customer implementations, standards and methodologies. Manish Varma is part of Integration Services at Johnson & Johnson Corporate Information Management. Mr. Varma is responsible for providing global integration architecture, best practices methodology, a robust infrastructure platform, education & training program and leverageable artifacts to support application integration engagements within and across multiple operating companies of Johnson & Johnson. Mr. Varma has also authored thought-leading document on Integration Maturity Model (IMM) to help companies assess and identify areas of improvement in order to get to the next level of integration maturity.
