W. Roy Schulte is Vice President and Distinguished Analyst at Gartner Inc. in Stamford Connecticut. Mr. Schulte was a co-author of the 1996 report that introduced the term SOA to the industry. He also originated research into the field of message brokers, coined the term business activity monitoring (BAM), and wrote the first analyst reports on the zero-latency enterprise and the enterprise service bus (ESB). His current work centers on event-driven architecture (EDA). Mr. Schulte has more than 20 years of industry experience spanning user enterprises, IT vendors and Gartner Inc. He holds a BS from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MS from MIT's Sloan School of Management.
Lance Hill brings extraordinary experience and insight as a former webMethods customer to drive webMethods positioning and accelerate adoption for webMethods Fabric and solutions.
Before joining webMethods, Lance served as the Vice President of the Enterprise Engineering and later the Fusion Technology Group for National City Bank. In his role within the Enterprise Engineering team, Lance was responsible for middleware, enterprise data and data warehousing, telecomm, and call center technology. Within this role he spearheaded a total cost avoidance benefit to National City of ~$45MM via the consolidation of contracts and architectures and the execution of strategic projects. In this role he also led the enterprise purchase and adoption of the webMethods platform within National City. Leading the Fusion Technology Group team, Lance was responsible for the "grounds up" creation of an end-to-end solution delivery and support organization delivering $3MM in discretionary projects in year one with a 1-year ROI of $15MM. Technology responsibilities within the Fusion Technology Group included integration, application development, workflow, imaging, business intelligence, and portal. Prior to National City, Lance served as an e-Business consultant at IBM for eight years. Lance was appointed the team lead for IBM mid-west e-business consulting and architecture team where he was responsible for generating training, methodology, and best practices for IBM in addition to delivering enterprise consulting expertise to large clients. His experience ranges across several industry sectors, including financial services, manufacturing, and health care within Fortune 500 firms. Previously, Lance served as a Wide Area Network Consultant for Fortune 500 firms at Benchmark Corporation.
