Featured Speaker Bios:
Jeanne W. Ross is Principal Research Scientist at the MIT Center for Information Systems Research. Her research focuses on the management of IT for business value and particularly on the design and management of the enterprise IT architecture. Much of her work involves development of case studies that describe the human, technology and IS-business relationship resources of firms that have successfully implemented technology-based changes. Her current research examines the business impact of firms' IT and business process sourcing decisions as well as the sourcing options created by enterprise architecture decisions. Dr. Ross has served on the faculty at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and St. Norbert College.
Beth Smith is the Vice President, Business Innovation and Optimization. In this role, Beth drives IBM's Business Innovation and Optimization initiative, including development, marketing, sales and business development. This initiative spans segments of IBM's Software Group product portfolio and leverages a variety of IBM Business Consulting Services offerings.
She was previously the Director of Solutions Development for IBM Healthcare and Life Sciences, where she was responsible for bringing new technology solutions to the pharmaceutical, biotech, and healthcare provider and payer markets.
During her career, Beth has held a variety of management and technical roles across IBM’s Software Group; she has an extensive background with IBM in the area of data applications and application development tools. Prior assignments include the IMS Product Manager; Program Director for IBM’s EDMSuite (Enterprise Document Management Suite), a document management solution for production imaging, archiving, and workflow.
Beth joined IBM in 1987 after graduating from North Carolina State University with a BS in Computer Science. In 2000, Beth received the Tribute to Women in Industry award from the YWCA of Santa Clara Valley.
