The Globus Project has unveiled version 3.0 of its open source Globus Toolkit for grid computing development. The key element of 3.0 is an implementation of the Open Grid Service Architecture (OGSA), designed to enable grid resources to be accessed by Web services. It has garnered significant support, including backing from one-time OGSA skeptics Sun and HP. Analyst firm the451 calls the 3.0 release “an important evolution of grid computing to its next phase: from a focus on resources to services, specifically the management of virtual services.” But does the451 think it will fly?
