New Year's Resolutions find their roots around 150 B.C. when Janus, a mythical
king of early Rome, was said to have two faces -- one looking back and one looking
forward.
It's in this spirit that at the tipping point between two years, we review
the prior in hopes of improving the next.
At IDS Scheer, we think some of the most common resolutions like lose weight,
reduce stress, and save money should also be common resolutions for any IT department
and that BPM can help you meet those resolutions.
Here's four BPM resolutions worth keeping. We hope you make some of them your
own.
1. Learn Something New and Share: A recent eBizQ article asked readers
for the biggest trends in BPM next year and many of you said collaboration will
be big. But collaboration isn't just the latest hype in software and the internet,
it's how we work together to share ideas, projects, tips, code, process models,
and support.
This year resolve to learn something new, share your knowledge and connect
with others. Once you become part of a community, members will help each other,
have more fun, and finish their projects faster.
2. Have Fun: Joining a community of like-minded professionals
is one way to have more fun, but you also need to be spirited about what you
do. If you need some immediate humor relief after long hours and a dreary cubicle,
check out what a few BPM lovers made for your amusement:
If you clicked on some of the links, you're already halfway there, you did
something fun! Now find something fun every day, a video, a funny blog post,
a crazy process diagram, and you're on your way to LOVING BPM, instead of dragging
your feet to work -- all without skipping a beat in your daily workflow.
