Barney Sene is corporate vice president and chief technology officer, of Ingram Micro Inc, the world's largest technology distributor. His responsibilities include leading the IT architecture team, and driving system designs and strategies that support the company's business goals. He leads a global organization that supports operations in 39 countries and sales presence in 140 countries.
Sene joined Ingram Micro in July 2005 and brought with him more than 20 years of experience in IT architecture design, systems operations, and application development. Sene was previously vice president and chief technology officer at WellPoint Health Networks Inc. in Thousand Oaks, Calif., where he oversaw enterprise projects which were known for not only taking into account new technologies, but also the human aspect and how the implementations benefited the people who interacted with them.
Prior to his role at WellPoint Health Networks, Sene held a variety of management positions, including chief technology officer, chief security officer and chief architect at General Electric's power systems division. Previous to General Electric, Sene led IT e-commerce systems development at DHL Worldwide Express.
With his entrepreneurial spirit, Sene co-founded Samoa Technologies, Inc., American Samoa's first technology-based satellite, broadcasting and communications company, and Inter Island Airways, Inc., a local regional airline operating in the Samoan Islands in the South Pacific.
Sene received his bachelor's of science degree in computer science and engineering from California State University in Long Beach.
