For BPM to really contribute to the enterprise's bottom line, it cannot just support workflow or just support integration. Next-generation BPM needs to pull together ERP, supply chain management, content management and other applications at the logic, data and user levels. The ways in which the changing role of BPM helps users are explained based on five BPM case studies recently completed by ebizQ.

Issues reviewed in this presentation include:

  • Which types of BPM products are best for straight-through (STP) vs. human interaction?
  • Which business process sets are conducted mostly over an Intranet vs. an extranet?
  • How do you best balance event- vs. data-driven, and case-oriented vs. ad-hoc business processes?
  • What are the industry-centric and performance tradeoffs you will have to make?
