Forrester recently asked over 160 enterprises in the US and UK about their BPM efforts to determine their level of success and found that BPM projects are indeed having a significant impact on the bottom line. What information can be gleaned from these most recent attempts to implement BPM? Specifically:
Keith Swenson, Fujitsu's Chief Architect, previews the world's first Automated Business Process Discovery Service Offering that helps companies visualize business processes and identify process bottlenecks.
Ken Vollmer is a principal analyst in Forrester's Application Development & Infrastructure research group, covering trends, issues, and strategies related to all forms of integration, including business process management (BPM), enterprise application integration (EAI), B2B integration (B2Bi), and electronic data interchange (EDI).
Ken has assisted hundreds of clients in North America and Europe with their integration projects, drawing upon his knowledge of emerging trends and many years of practical experience in implementing a wide range of business solutions.
Ken came to Forrester through its acquisition of Giga Information Group and has 20 years of management-level experience in the IT industry. Prior to joining Giga, he was the director of information systems planning for a large retail company, where he implemented a comprehensive EDI program with more than 1,000 trading partners. He has held a wide range of IT management positions at Carrier Corporation and MONY Financial Services, as well as various positions in the logistics arena at John Deere and Carrier.
Ken earned a B.S. in management information systems from the State University of New York and an M.S. in information resource management from the School of Information Science and Technology at Syracuse University.
Keith Swenson is Chief Architect and Vice President of Research and Development at Fujitsu for the Interstage family of products. He is known for having been a pioneer in Web services, and has helped the development of standards such as WfMC Interface 2, OMG Workflow Interface, SWAP, Wf-XML, AWSP, WSCI, and is currently working on standards such as XPDL and ASAP. He is currently the Chairman of the Technical Committee of the Workflow Management Coalition. In 2004 he was awarded the Marvin L. Manheim Award for outstanding contributions in the field of workflow. Prior to returning to Fujitsu Software Corporation, Keith was Director of Engineering at MS2, where he was responsible for developing Accelerate, a distributed enterprise scaled system. Keith holds both a Master's degree in computer science and a Bachelor's degree in physics from the University of California, San Diego.
