No two SOA deployments are alike, even within the same company. Service-oriented architecture is a popular and successful approach being undertaken by most companies, but there is still a lot of work to do before many application portfolios are truly "SOA-enabled."

A new survey, conducted by ebizQ for IBM, finds that most SOA efforts at this time are scattered haphazardly across multiple business units or among project based development and integration teams. In fact, few efforts are part of a considered top-down enterprise perspective or strategy.
