"Customers like Java CAPS because it is the first standards-based, open extensible platform for developing software infrastructures based on a SOA approach. Java CAPS is easier and more flexible to upgrade and grow with each customer's business and it provides no vendor lock in," said Kevin Schmidt, director of SOA product management, Sun Microsystems.

"We saw in Savvion BusinessManager a strong product that helps customers build human workflow into composite applications, along with its intuitive process modeling and simulation tools, giving business users a more active role in conceptualizing, defining and refining SOA-enabled processes and applications," said Schmidt.

This new solution will enable clients to re-design their work processes around how people actually work and collaborate with IT to automate changes within business units or across global enterprises. Sun's customers span multiple verticals including telecommunications, manufacturing, government, healthcare, and retail.

"Savvion BusinessManager and Java CAPS come together to provide easy-to-use, business centric functionality, in a system that scales and performs at a level suitable for mission critical enterprise solutions," said Rod Squires, SVP. "The joint solution provides agile human-centric processes with reusable services, lowering operational costs and providing greater control, visibility, and manageability to important business processes."
