Social Networking Site Selects Coral8's CEP Engine
04/07/2008
Coral8, Inc., a provider of Complex Event Processing (CEP) software, today announced shouldi, a next generation instant social advice network, has selected Coral8 Engine to enable a new class of in-the-moment social advice services for its customers.
“After evaluating a number of CEP vendors, we have determined that Coral8 Engine is the best fit for our requirements,” said George Hoenig, shouldi founder and CEO. “Coral8’s familiar, SQL-like language and available XML and email adapters will minimize our development effort. The high-performance, scalable engine will allow shouldi to deliver a broader range of trusted, instant social advice services to our users. Additionally, the backing of Coral8’s professional services and engineering teams -- by quickly delivering new functionality according to our needs -- ensures rapid and smooth integration today and continued fit with our needs over time.”
Social networking is a huge and profound online phenomenon. According to comScore, approximately half a billion unique users worldwide are members of social networks. Membership continues to grow rapidly in all regions.
Mr. Hoenig emphasizes that social networking must evolve to meet the expectations of young adults who are more mobile, connected, and interactive than ever. “Social networking can no longer be just a tool to share experiences with friends through photos and blogs after the fact,” he added. “These services must be embedded in everyday shopping, dining, dating, adventure and entertainment experiences as they are happening. Users expect instant, spontaneous communications with anyone, on any topic, communicated any way whether they’re out shopping and wondering which pair of jeans looks best on them or looking for nearby sushi restaurant with no wait.”
shouldi will leverage Coral8’s CEP Engine for immediate tabulation of advice responses across the site’s mobile messaging, instant messaging, email and web communications bridges. The engine will be used to provide real-time trust analysis by user, topic and geography. Finally, the engine will enable shouldi to update leadership statistics in real time.
“Coral8 is delighted to have shouldi using Coral8 Engine to power their customer-driven real-time environment,” said Terry Cunningham, Coral8 CEO. “This announcement demonstrates Coral8’s broad experience in major and growing verticals that includes social networking, enabling delivery of trusted, in-the-moment advice that is fundamental to shouldi’s anyone, anytime, and anywhere communications.”
