Exist Global Acquires DevZuz

01/07/2008

Exist Global, a leading software engineering services firm headquartered in the Philippines, has announced the acquisition of US-based DevZuz for an undisclosed sum.

ebizQ received the following:

DevZuz is a developer of delivery platforms that link enterprise businesses to application development projects and processes. Through the acquisition, Exist will gain key DevZuz employees, as well as the company's technology and products including DevZuz's advanced software sourcing technology, codeATLAS, and its build automation and standardization platform, Maestro.

These software tools will add to Exist's capabilities for cost-effective rapid software development centered on its distributed engineering network (DEN) technology. CodeATLAS, currently in public beta, is a code search and project repository technology that connects developers and software components in a social networking model. Maestro provides build standardization, dependency management, continuous integration, and comprehensive reporting, based on the Apache Maven, Archiva, and Continuum technologies.

Steve Nathan, CEO of Exist Global, said, "The DevZuz team's expertise in development and its innovative technologies complement our services and platform strategies perfectly. The creation of sophisticated, innovative, and cost-effective software requires skilled developers using cutting-edge development techniques. DevZuz provided the best approach: fast searches for both open source and proprietary code and a platform to bring it all together."

The combined entity, doing business as Exist Global, will focus on strategic software development services for start-up companies, enterprises, and independent software vendors (ISVs) across the globe.

Winston Damarillo, chairman of Exist and DevZuz, said, "The global demand for innovative software is increasing. This partnership is a perfect union that brings together two companies with similar philosophies and goals, as well as complementary services and products. The combined strengths of Exist and DevZuz will allow us to take advantage of this global demand and to provide software applications to drive businesses across the globe."

Philip Dodds, CTO for DevZuz and newly-appointed CTO of Exist Global, said: "The main elements of this acquisition that will contribute to its success are Exist's core strength and experience in global software development services, DevZuz's experience in open source software, component management and build automation, and the demand for world-class talent to produce innovative yet cost-effective software."
