QED Connect Implements Managed Security Services

09/14/2007

QED Connect, Inc., a managed services provider for the information security market, has implemented its Omni Manager hosted security services at the YWCA of Central Massachusetts, a nonprofit women's advocacy and resource center and local association of the YWCA of the USA. Omni Manager has been deployed to provide centralized security, management and control of IT assets across three different YWCA locations.

ebizQ received the following:

Core applications include web blocking and filtering, and asset and license tracking for YWCA's computers, which are used for day-to-day business and also provide Internet access for YWCA users and staff.

"Omni Manager enables me to have centralized control and real-time visibility over my infrastructure," said Todd Blake, Director of MIS, YWCA of Central Massachusetts. "One single solution combines asset management, license tracking and Internet blocking and filtering for a great value. Additionally, Omni Manager is administered through a web-based console, so I can deploy and enforce new policies at any time without having to travel to each of our locations."

"We are very pleased to assist such a respected organization as the YWCA with its security challenges," said Tom Makmann, chairman and CEO, QED Connect. "Omni Manager's value proposition is unique in that it provides nonprofit organizations, such as the YWCA with a comprehensive, feature-rich security solution at an excellent value, freeing up financial resources for philanthropic works. The product's hosted nature and ease of use also maximize IT efficiency, especially when there are multiple locations. YWCA is a real-world example of how nonprofits can benefit from the same technologies used to secure business information assets."

Omni Manager combines critical security functions into a value-driven, all-in-one hosted service that is delivered over the Internet. There is no equipment to install, and no additional software or maintenance required. Omni Manager is up and running in minutes, so users can immediately begin monitoring and enforcing organizational security and acceptable use policies in real time. The hosted security services can be deployed and managed from a central web-based console 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Quick Guide: What is Enterprise 2.0?

A lot of people are talking about Enterprise 2.0 as being the business application of Web 2.0 technology. However, there's still some debate on exactly what this technology entails, how it applies to today's business models, and which components bring true value. Some use the term Enterprise 2.0 exclusively to describe the use of social networking technologies in the enterprise, while others use it to describe a web economy platform, or the technological framework behind such a platform. Still others say that Enterprise 2.0 is all of these things. Learn More
