PureShare Releases Dashboard Metrics Platform

08/14/2007

PureShare, a provider of software tools that facilitate business management through metrics, announced today a new technology platform that provides managers with mission-critical information using web-based dashboard visualization that sees across the enterprise and beyond.

ebizQ received the following:

With PureShare's platform, consisting of ActiveMetrics and ReportRouter, users gain visibility into how well their organization is performing in the context of targets and objectives. These tools automate the gathering of answers based on information drawn from enterprise systems in their format and displayed according to the requirements of each user to enable the proactive monitoring of key performance indicators.

Unlike other performance management solutions, PureShare is now taking context beyond the enterprise. Companies in today's business world need to access and utilize real-world information in concert with proprietary data to be able to truly manage their business through metrics. Enhanced value can be derived from mapping data against geographies through the geocoding of data points, or by integrating as-it-happens market data, currency exchange rates and other real-time financial data. The sum of the information is presented within the context chosen by the user, whether it's entirely within an existing company framework or extended to outside the organization.

"Imagine the potential increase in access to useful, real-time information if businesses are evaluating their metrics given all factors, both internal and external," said Christopher Dean, co-founder, PureShare. "PureShare has mastered visibility across the enterprise and is using that expertise and experience to lever insight into the broader marketplace, providing our customers with even more relevant information that they can use to increase productivity and boost their bottom lines."

Most businesses employ some form of business intelligence system to access data inside the company. Typically, these systems do not provide the information in its final form and often require additional manual work such as downloading data into spreadsheets for formatting and additional processing. Rarely do these systems touch all areas of the business because of different backend applications again leading to manual efforts to merge information into consolidated views.

PureShare is data source agnostic, integrating information in any format from any source, be it customer relationship management software, financial databases, operational systems, other BI tools, custom spreadsheets, or anywhere else that businesses store data. The result is that now there is a single source for metrics with information merged to form a complete view including contextual information such as management objectives, service level agreements, and other performance goals. Individual users and business units get their own views with executive rollups, departmental and team drill-downs, trends and historical comparisons.

Typically, comparable BI tools utilize online analytics processing, or OLAP, along with large data warehouses to perform calculations and deliver metrics. Because PureShare is OLAP-free, the application is lightweight and easily deployed, the required IT support and associated costs are reduced, and real-time information is constantly accessible. At the same time, existing OLAP cubes and data warehouses become resources as well so PureShare frameworks can act as an overlay to existing investments.

Customized views can be as creative as race graphics to help motivate salespeople involved in incentive programs, or as complex as intricate sales figures and actual sales compared to set targets, in real-time. Dashboards are web-based and easily accessed from anywhere, in any format. Display is portable to PDAs, can be incorporated into portals or become portals, or be deployed almost anywhere users do business.

Quick Guide: What is Enterprise 2.0?

A lot of people are talking about Enterprise 2.0 as being the business application of Web 2.0 technology. However, there's still some debate on exactly what this technology entails, how it applies to today's business models, and which components bring true value. Some use the term Enterprise 2.0 exclusively to describe the use of social networking technologies in the enterprise, while others use it to describe a web economy platform, or the technological framework behind such a platform.
