Layer 7 Technologies, a provider of XML security and networking for Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Web 2.0, today announced general availability of its SecureSpan Custom Policy Assertion SDK (software development kit) for its SecureSpan line of XML software gateways and hardware SOA appliances.

In addition to Layer 7’s existing vocabulary of SOA Governance policies, customers and partners can now leverage the Custom Policy Assertion SDK to create customized extensions, giving them the flexibility to adapt policies to evolving SOA deployments, ensuring maximum integration flexibility and investment protection.
“Governing service interactions is essential for effective security, reliability and availability in an SOA,” explained Ronald Schmelzer, Senior Analyst at ZapThink, LLC. “End-users require tools and technologies such as the Custom Policy Assertion SDK in order to better tailor their governance policies to reflect changing business priorities and SOA growth.”
The Custom Policy Assertion SDK gives customers, integrators and OEMs the ability to extend their Layer 7 SOA appliances and software gateways by adding new service controls and third-party integration support. New policy assertions can be managed and composed in the SecureSpan administration console along with any of Layer 7’s pre-built policy assertions.
