iTKO Hits 2,500th Free Download of SOA Test Tool

iTKO, Inc., a provider of complete automated testing solutions for SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture) software, today announced it has passed the 2,500th free download mark of its LISA WS-Testing, a fully functional Web Services testing solution, since its release in mid-October.

Early survey indicators show adoption is most vigorous among ISVs, consultants and financial institutions. SOA quality requires a complete, continuous, and collaborative focus across the entire SOA lifecycle. While Web Services testing continues to be an important part of the SOA quality puzzle, it is only the starting point. By offering LISA WS-Testing as a free download, iTKO is helping development teams get started on incorporating quality early into SOA Lifecycle Governance.

In an initial survey of those who have downloaded the software, iTKO found that:

• usability satisfaction rates are initially very high given the number of users who have downloaded and started using the product;



• almost 80 percent of users are testing homegrown Web Services;



• 82 percent of the users who have downloaded and are using WS-Testing would recommend the free download to others.

One early adopter notes, “I love the fact that with LISA WS-Testing I don't have to write any fake test code, and then manage that on top of my production code. In fact, there is no code window in LISA, you just point-and-click and it creates an XML script that directly talks to the web service. In a matter of minutes I created a dataset with a list of values, used the dataset to test my web method, and I could immediately see where my code breaks. We were looking into spending thousands of dollars for some other regression testing tool. So this free tool was definitely a good find.”

LISA WS-Testing is built from the Web Services testing capabilities within iTKO’s commercial SOA software test automation product, the LISA 3.5 Complete SOA Test Framework. LISA WS-Testing is a fully functional, no-code Web Services test authoring and execution solution that developers, quality assurance personnel and business teams can use to test Web Services deployments. This solution supports all current protocols as well as unit, functional and regression testing of the Web Services layer.

The first 50,000 people to download LISA WS-Testing will receive a perpetual license from iTKO, as well as LISA Forums membership, free of charge. Users will be able to test as many Web Services as they need for as long as necessary.
