Attachmate Introduces Verastream Host Integrator 6.0

07/24/2006

Attachmate Corporation today announced the worldwide availability of Verastream® Host Integrator 6.0, its solution for screen-based access to legacy data and logic.

ebizQ received the following details:

Verastream Host Integrator's enhanced performance capabilities strengthen the comprehensive Verastream suite of mainframe-, desktop- and web-based integration offerings, enabling customers to drive business productivity and lower IT costs by more quickly and easily extending legacy functionality into applications that can interoperate in a service oriented architecture (SOA).

With more than 25 years of mainframe integration expertise, Attachmate is well positioned to help customers maximize the value of their legacy assets and their investment in SOA. Verastream Host Integrator's low-risk, low-cost approach to screen-based host integration helps companies move into the SOA business era without sacrificing valuable company, customer or partner data that resides on the mainframe.

"Companies should not have to spend millions on application replacement and re-engineering when they can quickly leverage Verastream to extend legacy business functionality needed to build a successful SOA infrastructure," said Eric Varness, vice president of marketing for Attachmate. "With enhanced performance capabilities, Verastream Host Integrator furthers Attachmate's commitment to giving customers the broadest choice, flexibility and power for delivering integration initiatives that avoid risk, enhance workflow and reduce total cost of ownership."

For many large organizations and government agencies, the mainframe continues to be a focal point for data and applications that run day-to-day operations. Attachmate customers Balboa Insurance Group, Bankhaus Neelmeyer, Cooper Booth Wholesale, Crédit Agricole, First American Default Technologies, NEC America and PPG's LYNX Services, among others, have all selected Verastream as their SOA-based host integration tool of choice. For example, First American Default Technologies, the industry's leading provider of default servicing management solutions and software systems, automated its default loan processing by embracing Verastream's SOA approach.

"Before partnering with Attachmate, we were using a more involved process for information gathering and processing," said Glen Banta, vice president of professional services for First American Default Technologies. "Leveraging Verastream and Attachmate's host integration expertise, First American Default Technologies has built the essential information resources to make the access of loan information more timely and accurate than ever before. The back-end functionality of the mainframe is transparent to our clients, giving our users added speed and ease-of-use."

Without disturbing valuable code or associated business processes, Verastream Host Integrator provides a flexible application development platform for ongoing projects. By enabling developers to encapsulate data and logic via the screen interface to create services and components (e.g., XML, COM, .NET, JavaBeans or web services) that can be mixed, matched and reused, Verastream Host Integrator allows applications to share information or respond to events across multiple systems.

Whether working with an IBM mainframe, IBM iSeries (AS/400), Unix, HP OpenVMS or HP e3000 environment, Verastream Host Integrator enables the full range of mainframe-based legacy applications to participate in SOA, enabling IT organizations to extend their legacy assets for use in SOA-based web, portal, CRM, mobile, contact-center or web self-service solutions.

Quick Guide: What is Enterprise 2.0?

A lot of people are talking about Enterprise 2.0 as being the business application of Web 2.0 technology. However, there's still some debate on exactly what this technology entails, how it applies to today's business models, and which components bring true value. Some use the term Enterprise 2.0 exclusively to describe the use of social networking technologies in the enterprise, while others use it to describe a web economy platform, or the technological framework behind such a platform. Still others say that Enterprise 2.0 is all of these things. Learn More
