iWay Introduces Adapters 'On Demand' Service

04/20/2005

iWay Software, an Information Builders company and an adaptive software provider, today announced a new adapters on demand service it now provides to customers and prospects. The adapters on demand program lets organizations request that iWay Software build adapters that may not already be developed as part of the iWay Adaptive Framework, the company said.

“iWay Software product development has always been driven by customer demand,” says John Senor, president of iWay Software. “The adapters on demand program exemplifies that commitment by accepting development and maintenance of complex integration adapters. Customers will be able to reduce their integration costs by submitting requests directly through their sales representative.”

The iWay Adaptive Framework currently provides over 280 adapters that support sophisticated metadata generation, event handling, and service interactions. But if an organization has a requirement that isn’t currently supported – application, data source, protocol, envelope, format, platform, or other technology – iWay Software can create adapters on demand to suit specific environments, the company added.

iWay Software said its staff creates new adapters much more rapidly because of superior support for adaptive technology along four dimensions:

  • Protocol for sending and receiving messages, such as HTTP or MQSeries

  • Envelope for addressing and delivering the messages, such as SOAP

  • Format schema for message payload, such XML with XML schema

  • Platform, such as BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere, Microsoft BizTalk Server, or SAP NetWeaver

If an organization changes its environment later, iWay said it can support those needs using existing iWay adapters or extensions. Also, adapters on demand use the iWay Adaptive Framework as their foundation, so they provide the same benefits and features as those already built:

  • Support from a committed vendor instead of your in-house or consulting resources

  • Reusability across all framework-supported platforms and standards

  • Middleware created to support exactly the use cases you need

  • Extensibility along any dimension with minimal effort (e.g., for deployment in a new server)

  • Reuse of adapter capabilities along any dimension that doesn't need to be created (e.g., for reuse with EDIINT as well as Web services)

  • Full documentation, like any other middleware product

  • Cost reductions achieved by spreading development expenses among all companies that need an adapter for that type of product

Quick Guide: What is Enterprise 2.0?

A lot of people are talking about Enterprise 2.0 as being the business application of Web 2.0 technology. However, there's still some debate on exactly what this technology entails, how it applies to today's business models, and which components bring true value. Some use the term Enterprise 2.0 exclusively to describe the use of social networking technologies in the enterprise, while others use it to describe a web economy platform, or the technological framework behind such a platform. Still others say that Enterprise 2.0 is all of these things. Learn More
