11/22/2004

Attensity, a provider of unstructured data applications, today announced the beta availability of Attensity Warranty Advanced Edition. According to the company, Attensity Warranty Advanced Edition extends the data extraction and discovery capabilities of Attensity Application Suite through the addition of the sophisticated new software module, Attensity Act. With its feature set of reports, dashboards and alerts, Attensity Act seeks to enable organizations to efficiently investigate problem areas and mitigate risk by proactively responding to adverse events revealed by the fusion of structured and unstructured content.

"Automotive companies are beginning to embrace the use of text analytics tools to improve product quality by rigorous analysis of quality data, particularly from the warranty system, and now starting to expand into field service data," said Kevin Mixer, Research Director, Automotive and Heavy Equipment, at AMR Research in his recent report, "Seeing Quality Improvement Requires Cleaning the Correction to Detection Window." The report went on to say, "Manufacturers need to embrace early warning concepts to rapidly contain program problems and turn the tide of the warranty issues that cost North American manufacturers (auto and non-auto) more than $23B in 2003."

The company said Attensity Warranty Advanced Edition gives automotive, durable goods and heavy equipment manufacturers real-time visibility into warranty and service processes, as well as better insight into complex failure chains, which are often only captured in "unstructured" text-based content. With Attensity Warranty Advanced Edition, they argued, organizations can reduce operating expenses by eliminating the need for manual review of unstructured quality and warranty content, improve operational efficiency by leveraging the insights provided by failure chain relationships, and take early action on potential problems to reduce warranty and recall related exposures.

"Attensity Warranty Advanced Edition is the logical extension of our Attensity Application Suite and yet another example of our unique focus on providing solutions that solve real business problems. Attensity Warranty Advanced Edition includes a wide range of features designed to help companies address rising costs and risks associated with warranty issues. For manufacturers interested in spotting potential quality issues early on and streamlining the problem resolution process, there simply isn't a better solution available," said Craig Norris, CEO at Attensity.
