DataPower, RSA Combine On XML Web Services Security

07/20/2004

DataPower, which claims the title of “the original creators and leading provider of XML-Aware Networking (XAN) infrastructure,” has joined the RSA Secured Partner Program “to provide an identity and access management solution between the DataPower XS40 XML Security Gateway and RSA SecurID authentication technology, RSA ClearTrust Web access management software and RSA Keon digital certificate management software. “This certification,” say the vendors, “ensures that joint customers for DataPower and RSA Security achieve the most comprehensive XML Web services security that can be deployed quickly while leveraging existing, best-of-breed security infrastructure for identity and access management.

The companies provided the following details:

As the business world evolves, an effective Web services strategy is essential to the growth and success of an organization. Companies must feel confident that vital information and applications remain secure, both inside and outside their operations. The technology partnership between DataPower and RSA Security helps end users efficiently and cost-effectively manage the digital identities of diverse user bases – including employees, partners and customers – for any application, including XML and Web service-based applications. With DataPower’s integration across RSA Security’s solutions, enterprises securing their Web services with DataPower’s XML security gateway now have an even higher level of security and assurance.

As part of the RSA Secured Partner Program, the DataPower XS40 XML Security Gateway has been certified across several RSA Security solutions, and has achieved RSA SecurID Ready, RSA ClearTrust Ready and RSA Keon Ready certification. This integration signals DataPower’s interoperability with RSA Security’s authentication technology, Web access management software and digital certificate software. The RSA Secured certification lets organizations know that a powerful partnership has been created that leverages market-leading security products and technologies in order to meet the needs of an effective Web services strategy.

Shipping for nearly two years, the XS40 XML Security Gateway combines hardened security, wirespeed performance and sophisticated, patent-pending algorithms for XML threat protection and access management, including XML firewall, XDoS protection, SOAP filtering, access control, XML schema validation, digital signatures, field-level XML encryption, XML/SOAP routing and service virtualization. The mature Web services security solution, XS40 has long provided both comprehensive standards support (such as WS-Security 1.0, SAML, XACML, XPath, XKMS, WSDM, SSL, LDAP, and RADIUS), and best-of-breed integration with existing security, management and application infrastructures.

“As the most mature XML security solution in the market place, DataPower has seen the steady increase in both the pervasiveness and sophistication of XML Web services,” said Eugene Kuznetsov, chairman and CTO at DataPower. “It’s therefore more important than ever for enterprises to choose technologies and partners they can trust to deliver airtight security¬-this has been the cornerstone for our leading ‘Integration for Management’ strategy. Our technology partnership with RSA Security is truly a win-win solution for customers of both companies seeking to deploy secure, scalable Web services.”

“We are extremely pleased with the continued success of our RSA Secured Partner Program, and welcome DataPower’s certification work across our leading security portfolio,” said Stuart Cohen, director of partner development at RSA Security. “With the growth of XML Web services, companies are struggling to maintain secure access to vital information and applications. The technology partnership between DataPower and RSA Security provides an identity and access management and XML security solution to end users, helping customers save time, increase security and maximize productivity.”
