Skybox Enhances Flagship Security Solution

06/14/2004

Skybox Security, a provider of “Exposure Risk Management (ERM)” software, released V1.5 of SkyboxT View.

Skybox offered these details:

The release is designed with a new open architecture that allows customers to easily leverage existing investments in a wide array of security and IT infrastructure solutions for all aspects of risk management - from asset management, network management, firewall management and vulnerability scanning through to remediation planning, patch management and trouble ticketing. Skybox also announced interoperability with over 20 leading products, including the addition of vulnerability and remediation management solutions from BigFix, Qualys and NCircle, furthering the Skybox vision for continuous security risk management processes.

Skybox View's breakthrough modeling and attack simulation technologies apply contextual risk analytics to automatically reveal the top one to two percent most critical vulnerabilities that affect information assets and optimize the remediation process by reducing time and resource requirements. With Skybox View, organizations can shrink the window of exposure from weeks to hours and reduce risk assessment and remediation planning costs by 90-95 percent. Integration with remediation and patch management solutions, and a new Remediation Optimization Engine that accelerates "what-if" recommendations for prioritization and sequencing of patches and other remediation efforts, further reduces costs.

Leading analysts recommend customers evaluate solutions that integrate and automate various point solutions of the risk management process. "Enterprises face an enormous information overload challenge in a multi-vendor infrastructure, making risk analytics essential to sound security risk management. Without an integrated approach and 'brains' behind it, security professionals will never truly understand the state of security for their most critical business applications and how to effectively focus their remediation plan," said Gidi Cohen, CEO of Skybox Security. "Our intent with Skybox View V1.5 is to enable organizations to optimize their existing infrastructure investments while easing deployment and integration through Skybox View. We are thrilled that our open architecture allows us now to work closely with leading solution providers."

Customers benefit from the Skybox's open architecture in two main ways:

--Raise ROI by Leveraging Current Investments: Organizations can optimize existing infrastructure and raise return on investments by implementing a fully automated risk management process, leveraging modeling and attack simulation technologies.

--Ease of Deployment: Organizations can enjoy faster and smoother integrations with complementary products, saving time and investment dollars.

Skybox View V1.5 supports leading vulnerability and remediation management providers BigFix, eEye, Foundstone, ISS, NCircle, Nessus, Qualys and trouble ticketing vendor Remedy.

"As enterprise threats become more frequent and the gap between vulnerability and exploit closes, enterprises face the imperative to stay a step ahead through automation-assisted vulnerability management," said Gregory Toto, vice president of product management at BigFix. "The integration of BigFix's award-winning vulnerability management solutions with Skybox View validates our recently announced BigFix Open Architecture initiative and gives customers the visibility and speed they need to ensure that vulnerabilities are targeted with appropriate priority and that risk weighted security threats are mitigated as quickly as possible."

In addition Skybox View supports leading network management framework and gateway products Checkpoint Firewall-1 4.1, Checkpoint Firewall-1 NG, Checkpoint Provider-1 NG, Cisco IOS Firewall, Cisco PIX, Cisco IOS routers, HP Open View, IPTables, Netscreen and Nortel Passport 8600.

Quick Guide: What is Enterprise 2.0?

A lot of people are talking about Enterprise 2.0 as being the business application of Web 2.0 technology. However, there's still some debate on exactly what this technology entails, how it applies to today's business models, and which components bring true value. Some use the term Enterprise 2.0 exclusively to describe the use of social networking technologies in the enterprise, while others use it to describe a web economy platform, or the technological framework behind such a platform. Still others say that Enterprise 2.0 is all of these things. Learn More
