Pervasive Software (Nasdaq:PVSW), a provider of data infrastructure software, says it helps customers quickly achieve return on investment in retail standards compliance projects, while accelerating their success in meeting the mandates from organizations such as Wal-Mart, the Healthcare Distribution Management Association and the U.S. Department of Defense.
Pervasive provided these details:
As retailers move toward adoption of emerging technologies from Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) to data synchronization and supply chain automation, Pervasive's data infrastructure solutions help speed time to value by integrating and managing the explosion of customer and product data, including real-time integration support for emerging data and communications standards such as AS2, UCCnet and RFID.
"Customer demand has been growing steadily from early adopters who are considering RFID, and integration is one of the most critical concerns given the incompatible and diverse RFID infrastructure, as well as the complexity of customer's own varied IT landscape," said Mike Hoskins, vice president and general manager, Integration Products Division, Pervasive Software. "Retailers are under competitive pressure to find integration solutions that can handle different data requirements and integrate disparate data from back-end systems with collection points on the edge. Pervasive's scaleable and highly versatile architecture will enable our retail customers to seamlessly integrate existing enterprise applications and legacy systems with this 'last mile' data in order to embrace the business value of RFID throughout their supply chain and quickly achieve return on investment (ROI) for retail standards compliance."
Pervasive provides support for existing business standards, as well as robust business-to-business and XML translation capabilities. Pervasive today delivers real-time, cost-effective solutions for UCCnet data synchronization and integration to help retailers leverage their existing integration investments and reduce the costs and delays associated with bad data.
Russell Snella, IT director for Art Line, one of the leading suppliers of lawn and garden décor and a major trading partner with major home centers and mass merchants, adds, "Less than two weeks after Art Line downloaded its free Pervasive trial, we went into full EDI production with Pervasive Business Integrator. That's an amazing feat for any company, especially given the tremendous volume of purchase orders, advance ship notices, invoices and point of sales data we handle for major retailers. By putting Pervasive to work on EDI and UCCnet standards compliance, we have optimized our own IT resources and reduced staff requirements."
By supporting emerging trends to move away from expensive and proprietary legacy EDI, and move toward faster and more economical standards for data exchange and EDI over the internet (EDI-INT), Pervasive's integration architecture will provide support for the Applicability Statement 2 (AS2) standard, offering retailers a secure method to communicate business transactions over the Internet securely and reliably using HTTP.
Pervasive's robust data and application integration architecture provides the platform that will help businesses comply with new standards mandates, optimize their supply chains and improve business processes. Leading retailers and manufacturers such as Fry's Electronics, Brinker International (parent company of Chili's Grill & Bar), West Marine, Simon & Schuster and Kroger rely on applications and software from Pervasive to differentiate their goods and services, lower overhead, improve supply chain efficiency, increase margins and stay competitive in today's retail markets.

This conference will teach business leaders what to expect, and what to avoid, to make their SOA journey a success. SOA is a long journey, not a single project, and distributed architectures are inherently complex. Success requires new ways of working, creating more efficient cross organization processes, adopting new tools, and building new skills.Register

A lot of people are talking about Enterprise 2.0 as being the business application of Web 2.0 technology. However, there's still some debate on exactly what this technology entails, how it applies to today's business models, and which components bring true value. Some use the term Enterprise 2.0 exclusively to describe the use of social networking technologies in the enterprise, while others use it to describe a web economy platform, or the technological framework behind such a platform. Still others say that Enterprise 2.0 is all of these things. Learn More
