Voyence Opts For Opsware Solution Partner Program

03/30/2004

Voyence will integrate its VoyenceControl! with Opsware's IT automation software to achieve greater IT efficiencies and lower costs in the data center. Through the Opsware Solution Partner Program, Voyence will receive access to Opsware's Web Services interface and API's and participate in joint selling and co-marketing activities.

VoyenceControl! automates network planning, design, deployment and change management processes to increase network availability and improve security by preventing errors from being introduced during the design or change process, the company says. Automation has become a necessity as IT organizations seek to become more cost-competitive, reduce data center complexity and offer higher-value services.

Fortune 2000 enterprises and government agencies are deploying the Opsware System to automate operations across their data centers, and are realizing lower costs, increased IT efficiencies and improved operations quality. The Opsware System automates a broad range of server and software operations including system provisioning, software provisioning, change management, patch management, application deployment and configuration tracking. The Opsware System also provides IT greater visibility into their operations, the state of their environment and how critical assets like servers, software infrastructure products and applications are being utilized.

"The combination of Opsware's data center automation software and Voyence's network configuration management solutions provides productivity improvements and increased security for today's data centers," said Michael Bunyard, vice president of worldwide marketing at Voyence. "Together, Opsware and Voyence allow customers to seamlessly and automatically manage critical network devices and servers, significantly reducing the chance of manual errors being introduced into the data center environment during the change process."

"Network configuration management is a key to automating data center operations and reducing costs stemming from security vulnerabilities from improperly configured devices," said Sharmila Shahani, senior vice president of marketing at Opsware Inc. "Enterprises are demanding solutions that can automatically track, store and recover critical software and server configuration information. The partnership between Opsware and Voyence increases operational efficiencies in the data center by enabling enterprises to quickly diagnose and fix problems related to configuration errors."

The growth of the Internet and move to Web-based computing is creating the biggest transformation yet in IT - a shift from client/server computing to low-cost Web-based architectures. With this shift comes a rapid growth of servers and applications in data centers, resulting in massive complexity that renders traditional, manual operations unsustainable. Automation has become a necessity as IT organizations seek to become more cost-competitive, reduce data center complexity and offer higher-value services.

As members of the Data Center Markup Language (DCML) Organization, Voyence and Opsware are working together on the DCML specification, which will result in enhanced interoperability between the companies' product lines and other systems and network management solutions.
