eEye Upgrades REM Security Management Console

03/22/2004

eEye Digital Security, a developer of network security software solutions, released the REM 2.0 Management Console. The vendor says REM “enables organizations to proactively address network security threats, enforce security policies and automate remediation activities all from a secure, Web-based management console, thereby reducing the cost to mitigate vulnerabilities.”

REM is a key component of eEye’s expanded Vulnerability Management Suite, which now includes Retina, the industry’s leading network vulnerability scanner, eEye Remediation Manager, a complete patch and configuration automation solution, and the REM Management Console. “This fully integrated solution enables the efficient assessment, aggregation, reporting, and remediation management of network security events,” eEye says.

“The rate at which vulnerabilities are being leveraged into debilitating and costly attacks demands that enterprises take a proactive approach to discovering, analyzing, prioritizing and remediating issues throughout the entire organization,” eEye notes. “The REM Management Console provides centralized vulnerability management and reporting of security events across a distributed enterprise network. REM’s open architecture allows organizations to leverage existing IT solutions, such as call center, help desk or framework applications, and effectively bridges the gap between security and IT operations.

“The REM 2.0 Management Console includes enhanced reporting, improved performance capabilities and a new interface that provides executive dashboard summary reports to quickly communicate an organization’s overall network security posture, including vulnerability counts, severity levels and status aging. In addition, REM 2.0 also offers enhanced agent-management capabilities that extend policy settings for existing Retina customers and features increased client and database scalability to support thousands of simultaneous client connections per server.”

“With the increasing and overwhelming number of network vulnerabilities, it is imperative that companies are given the opportunity to be proactive in maintaining a secure computing environment,” said Firas Raouf, chief operating officer at eEye Digital Security. REM 2.0 offers a unified workflow umbrella, under which IT and security groups can work together effectively to achieve the highest levels of security."
