Tripwire Widens Involvement With HP OpenView Service Desk

03/02/2004

Tripwire, Inc., the world leader in change monitoring and reporting software, announced the availability of Tripwire Manager Smart Link for HP OpenView, expanding Tripwire’s integration capabilities with HP’s IT service management solution for the Adaptive Enterprise.

“This Smart Link integration enables organizations using HP OpenView Service Desk to validate system changes, correlate them against open Service Desk change orders and create Service Desk incidents based on unauthorized changes,” Tripwire says.

“Tripwire’s Smart Link for HP OpenView Service Desk, combined with recently announced Tripwire Manager 4.1, Tripwire for Network Device for HP OpenView Network Node Manager and Tripwire Smart Plug-In for HP OpenView Operations provides organizations with a holistic view of the integrity of servers and network devices across their enterprise,” Tripwiere explains. “This enables accountability of the change management process, visibility into authorized and unauthorized changes, and improved service levels at lower operating costs.

“Tripwire for Servers detects and records specific changes to servers, and Tripwire Manager reports and correlates these changes with open Service Desk change orders or incidents. By integrating Tripwire’s change management and reporting capabilities with HP OpenView Service Desk, IT now has a centralized hub to conduct “closed-loop” IT change management within the HP OpenView framework.”

“By merging change monitoring and reporting capabilities with workflow and systems management, we are moving IT systems management and security from the traditional reactive mode to proactive, systematic control. We feel change monitoring and reporting are key elements to providing high levels of IT service,” said Wyatt Starnes, president and CEO of Tripwire. “Our integration with HP OpenView Service Desk lays the foundation for Tripwire to offer more enhanced service-level management functionality in future products.”

“The Tripwire Manager Smart Link for HP OpenView Service Desk provides a method to bring high-resolution change monitoring and reporting capabilities to HP OpenView Service Desk customers,” said Todd DeLaughter, vice president and general manager, Management Software Organization at HP. “This is a key element in satisfying our IT service management customers who need to maximize security while attaining a high level of system control and manageability within highly complex environments.”

Tripwire says HP OpenView Service Desk “helps organizations manage, report and track the delivery of IT services. Constructed around the ITIL best practices with a modular approach, the product allows organizations to implement a world-class service desk that improves management of service support, service delivery and service level agreements (SLAs).
