Worth approximately $28 million, the contract incorporates revenue from license fees, services, maintenance and training.

As a National Application Service Provider (NASP), BT leverage the SeeBeyond Integrated Composite Application Network (ICAN) Suite 5.0 to design, deliver and manage a national patient record database and transactional messaging service, which is critical to the NHS Care Records Service.

As the core software for the transactional messaging service initiative, SeeBeyond's eGate Integrator and eInsight Business Process Manager will serve as the Web services and J2EE-based integration platform for business process management. Delivery of the personal demographics service module will be facilitated by SeeBeyond's eView Global Identifier, which will act as the basis of the NHS Care Records Service to record and cross-index patient and care information electronically, eliminating duplication of patient files and improving information-sharing.

"With our extensive history in providing technology solutions to the healthcare market, it has always been our dream to integrate healthcare information on a national scale like the NHS National Program for IT," said Jim Demetriades, founder and CEO of SeeBeyond. "We believe this will change the way healthcare information is shared as well as improve the quality of care delivered. The effect of this initiative will have global implications affecting the way countries like the United States manage patient information."

"We are delighted to be working with BT to deliver a key part of the National Programme for IT and enable the creation of an integrated NHS Care Records Service that will help provide tangible benefits to NHS patients and healthcare professionals," said David Bennett, Senior Vice President and General Manager of EMEA for SeeBeyond. "We look forward to SeeBeyond's ICAN 5.0 technology playing a critical role in a deployment of this scale, as it facilitates the seamless integration of benefits through a single view of citizen information."
