DemandTec Unveils Wide-Ranging Solution For Retailers

11/13/2003

DemandTec Inc., a provider of Consumer Demand Management (CDM) software for retail merchandising, is shipping DemandTec OpenLink, “a new integration framework for linking all aspects of consumer demand and supply systems.”

DemandTec says OpenLink “moves beyond mere data integration by accommodating retailers’ business processes and controls, decreasing total cost of ownership, and improving merchandising and supply chain operations.”

“DemandTec is committed to delivering a competitive advantage to our customers through our Consumer Demand Management software platform,” said Dan Fishback, President and CEO of DemandTec. “With DemandTec OpenLink, we’ve taken integration to the next level, accelerating the return on investment, and improving ongoing merchandising operations workflow, by leveraging key technologies from our strategic partners.”

Based on industry standards, DemandTec OpenLink “delivers an integration solution for linking DemandTec applications and the customer environment, including price management and hosting systems, data warehouses, supply chain and legacy systems,” DemandTec asserts. “The framework allows automation of customer data collection, such as POS, product and competitive information, along with automated validation and approvals. DemandTec OpenLink allows retailers to cleanse and validate data ensuring accurate information for merchandising modeling, optimization and forecasting.

“DemandTec OpenLink also supports outbound integration for delivery of base and promotion pricing, using established processes and rules. DemandTec OpenLink allows customers to execute whole store pricing strategies with seamless integration between their implemented solutions.

“DemandTec OpenLink supports DemandTec’s entire Consumer Demand Management platform, DemandTec 3, including available retail merchandising optimization applications and DemandTec’s value-added optimization, modeling and price management services. Using J2EE and XML standards, DemandTec OpenLink is completely web-enabled and integrates with leading retail applications from Connect3, Evant, Hyperion, IBM QRS and SAP, as well as CPG software applications from leaders such as Siebel Systems.

“By working together, Connect3 and DemandTec can dramatically improve pricing strategies and enable collaborative promotional planning and execution processes across the retail enterprise,” says Dale Byrne, CEO, Connect3 Systems. “Connect3’s open architecture, used in conjunction with DemandTec’s OpenLink, allows retailers to obtain quick ROI from proven solutions that profitably target promotions to consumers.”

“Evant and DemandTec provide leading edge software solutions that free up millions of dollars in working capital and enable a greater competitive advantage for retailers,” said Jack Harbaugh, vice president marketing and business development at Evant. “By working together, Evant and DemandTec customers will benefit from best-of-breed solutions that are based on the industry's most advanced science, and are delivered on J2EE platforms.”

“We’re pleased that DemandTec is integrating Hyperion technology into its products to support DemandTec OpenLink,” said John Kopcke, CTO for Hyperion. “By incorporating our business intelligence platform into the DemandTec architecture, DemandTec OpenLink enables customers in the retail industry gain the benefits of a scalable, reliable and high performing platform that provides visibility into enterprise information assets. Armed with this information, businesses can anticipate results, measure and improve performance.

“The world's leading retailers are seeking to transform themselves into responsive, efficient, on-demand businesses. DemandTec and IBM have successfully integrated with many leading retailers. IBM's customers, as well as DemandTec’ customers, will now be more able to take advantage of IBM's solutions and services.” said Ming Tsai, Global Retail Industry Leader, IBM Business Consulting Services.

“QRS's emphasis on retail operations visibility and intelligence, from the supply chain to the store floor, compliments the DemandTec 3 product suite by providing critical data to drive competitive merchandising strategies,” said Renee d'Ouville, Vice President of Product Strategy for QRS Corporation. "QRS' collaborative commerce solutions help companies by providing product information, including competitive pricing, as well as transaction data from which retailers can make positive changes to improve compliance and customer confidence.”
