Portugal's Biggest Retailer Selects SeeBeyond

11/10/2003

SeeBeyond, provider of “the world's first integrated composite application network built on a comprehensive integration platform,” says Modelo Continente, the retail division of Portugal's largest holding company, has selected SeeBeyond as a core component of its I/T infrastructure to accelerate and facilitate the company's reorganization.

The comprehensive solution suite from SeeBeyond “offers the technology platform to enable the rapid development, deployment, execution and optimization of key business processes across Modelo Continente's extensive supply chain,” SeeBeyons says. “The solution will also help the Company anticipate constantly changing customer demand for new products and services.”

“Faced with market saturation and increasing demand from customers,”SeeBeyond explains, “Modelo Continente has continuously strived to strengthen its leading position and improve its range of products and services. As a result, Modelo Continente decided to restructure its organization to allow for faster product delivery and enhanced quality of services. Key factors in the successful completion of this reorganization included leveraging previous I/T investments and more importantly, improving data quality management and I/T department performance by reducing the lengthy and time-consuming tasks of maintenance and error handling.”

"Modelo Continente is committed to business innovation, with a focus on offering its customers a higher quality of products and services," said Paulo Ribeiro, I/T Manager responsible for Integration for Modelo Continente. "With SeeBeyond as a core component of our I/T infrastructure, we will be able to reach new levels of operational efficiency by ensuring we stock our stores with the right products, in the right quantities and at the right prices. Furthermore, SeeBeyond's offering includes a business process management solution that matches end-user needs with those of I/T users." SeeBeyons says, “Modelo Continente will be deploying SeeBeyond's eInsight(TM) Business Process Manager along with the eGate(TM) Integrator platform. The primary objectives include modeling, integrating and optimizing business processes across the organization's disparate systems that support its point of sale locations, corporate website and headquarters, outsourced logistics, warehouse services and suppliers. In addition, enterprise systems including SAP R/3 and Retek will be incorporated, providing business managers with complete visibility into business processes across supplier and product management, exception handling and error handling.”

"With the eInsight solution natively incorporating powerful integration capabilities, we will be able to optimize the management of both processes and data, each of which is fundamental in enhancing business performance as well as the customer experience," added Ribeiro.

"In today's climate, retailers are striving to gain market share and enhance customer service levels," said Jean-Pierre Roux, vice president of Continental Europe for SeeBeyond. "SeeBeyond has a successful history of enabling leading retailers to achieve strategic goals by driving real-time retailing and modernizing supply chain across their organizations. With the assistance of SeeBeyond's high performance, process-driven integration solutions, retailers can quickly address key issues to improve both product availability and margins, while lowering operating and I/T costs."

SeeBeyond notes that it “provides the world's largest global retailers with comprehensive integration solutions. A sampling of SeeBeyond's retail customers includes BBC Hardware Group, Big W, Boots, Carrefour Belgium, Cora Group, Despar, Frucor & Griffin's Foods, Lands' End, FNAC, Hallmark, Kiabi, Lechters, Leroy Merlin, PETsMART, Sainsbury's, Spar Austria, Sumitomo Shoji, Toys'R'Us, Trader Joe's and WH Smith.”
