Zeus Courts iPlanet/SunONE Users

11/04/2003

Zeus Technology, an Internet infrastructure software vendor, debuted a new package of software and migration services to aid Tru64, SGI IRIX and SCO UnixWare users to migrate from their unsupported iPlanet/SunONE Web server software to Zeus Web Server.

Zeus explains that, “When Sun Microsystems dropped support for Tru64, SGI IRIX and SCO UnixWare in September 2002, users concerned about future security breaches or unresolved bugs were faced with the choice of either rewriting their applications to work with an alternative Web server together with re-licensing existing third-party applications, or changing their hardware to a platform that Sun Microsystems supported.”

"Users who have applications using NSAPI on these platforms face huge migration costs." commented John Paterson, CEO Zeus Technology, "This package will reduce a six month re-implementation to a two week migration, and users can keep both their existing hardware and third-party applications."

The package that Zeus is offering consists of a bundle of Zeus Web Server licences and dedicated migration support, for an average cost of $80,000.

Zeus says its Web Server “is the only enterprise-grade Web server that supports both NSAPI and ISAPI.”

Commenting on their migration from iPlanet/SunONE, Derek O'Herlihy, IT director for investment broker TD Waterhouse said "Easy migration of existing content and third-party applications was a key issue to avoid any disruption to our service, and the move to Zeus Web Server was a straightforward process. Zeus software and technical support have excelled in migrating our website to a more secure and reliable platform."

Zeus describes its Web Server as “the most scalable, high-performance web server software available, underpinning business-critical solutions for the world's leading web hosting, content provider and secure e-commerce companies. Flexible web-based management, extensive integration capabilities, and the most comprehensive range of features available from commercial web server software, combine to provide fully extensible and future-proof web-based solutions. Zeus Web Server regularly wins awards as best in class and is the industry standard for SpecWeb benchmarking.”

Quick Guide: What is Enterprise 2.0?

A lot of people are talking about Enterprise 2.0 as being the business application of Web 2.0 technology. However, there's still some debate on exactly what this technology entails, how it applies to today's business models, and which components bring true value. Some use the term Enterprise 2.0 exclusively to describe the use of social networking technologies in the enterprise, while others use it to describe a web economy platform, or the technological framework behind such a platform. Still others say that Enterprise 2.0 is all of these things. Learn More
