Attachmate Lauds myEXTRA! Advanced Productivity Features

10/21/2003

Attachmate Corporation, a host access and legacy application Integration company, today announced the availability of myEXTRA! Advanced Productivity features, which the company says bring terminal emulation up to the speed of contemporary computer usage, “dramatically improving productivity.”

“These high performance host access Advanced Productivity features accelerate data entry and host navigation with 'one-click ease,' making host applications as easy to work with as Microsoft Office applications,” Attachmate notes.

Users can now download and test drive the new Advanced Productivity features from the Attachmate Web site. "We encourage users to try these 'turbo-charged' features to see firsthand the huge potential for cost and time savings," said Markus Nitschke, Attachmate vice president of marketing and product management. "Once people try these features, they will wonder how they ever managed without them. They are truly are revolutionary - never before has host access technology delivered such a comprehensive, productivity-focused feature-set comparable to that found in Microsoft Office applications."

“Cutting-edge productivity features for accessing host systems myEXTRA! Advanced Productivity features enable users to save thousands of keystrokes throughout the day, which maximizes user productivity and reduces costly errors,” Attachmate asserts. “Employees can engage in more productive, revenue-producing activities, and service customers more efficiently. A Keystroke Meter tracks the number of keystrokes required for each task, and displays the keystrokes saved when using the Advanced Productivity features. Features such as Spell-check, Auto Expand, Screen History, Scratch Pad, and the convenience of an integrated browser bring emulation to a new level.

Among myEXTRA! Advanced Productivity Features, IN ATTACHMATE’S WORDS, INCLUDE:

  • Spell-check - Reduces errors with fully-configurable spell-check functionality, including the ability to automatically correct misspelled words as they are typed.

  • Auto Expand - Accelerates data entry by allowing users to pre-set acronyms or shortcuts for long words, phrases or repeat commands. When the acronym is typed, it automatically expands to the term or phrase it stands for.

  • Auto Complete - Saves time and keystrokes by remembering cryptic commands typed, and presents this list in a drop-down box that can be invoked with a mouse click. As it learns repeat commands, it automatically makes suggestions to auto-populate fields.

  • Recent Typing - Eliminates re-entry of information by keeping a list of all cryptic commands typed into a host application. Users can view and select repeat words and commands. The list can be provided to new users to speed training on non-intuitive host applications.

  • integrated Browser - Allows users to access Web resources while maintaining active host screens - no need for separate windows on the desktop or lost host connections.

The Advanced Productivity Features will be included in the myEXTRA! Enterprise component contained in the upcoming release of myEXTRA! Presentation Services 8.0.
