Salesforce.com, which dubs itself the “world leader in delivering software-as-service,” and Sun Microsystems are shipping the sforce Portal Toolkit for Java System Portal Server. The depict it as “a simple, effective solution for companies to build best-of-breed portals that quickly impact the bottom line by providing executives and business users with key insight into customer activity.”
The sforce Portal Toolkit for Java System Portal Server leverages Sun’s portal software, Java-based Web services, and the sforce client/service platform. “Developers can use the skills they have and the tools they love to create powerful portal integrations in a fraction of the time needed for software-only solutions,” Salesforce.com says.
This integration of salesforce.com S3 and Sun's Java System Portal Server “allows the enterprise to extend its customer relationship management (CRM) environment to meet custom requirements, without the complexity and cost of software-only architectures, providing maximum benefit at minimum overall cost,” Salesforce.com notes.
According to the company, “Using this new toolkit, enterprises can combine the power and simplicity of sforce with the Multichannel Customer Service Capabilities enabled by the Java System Portal Server. Built on J2EE and secured with advanced network identity capabilities, salesforce.com's secure Sales Portal provides location management and access to critical customer information over any device, anytime, anywhere. The Sun and salesforce.com solution can create a synchronized customer experience across sophisticated business process and organization requirements.”
