Two Medical Centers Deploy SIEM 2.0 Platform to Centralize Log Monitoring, Automate Compliance, and Secure their Networks

LogRhythm, the company that makes log data useful, today announced that Saint Luke’s Health System and Esse Health have deployed the LogRhythm Log Management and SIEM 2.0 platform to centralize log monitoring to meet HIPAA compliance requirements, detect and block security threats, and proactively manage their IT operations.

ebizQ received the following:

Saint Luke’s Health System in Kansas City, Missouri is using the LogRhythm platform to automate and centralize log management, security event management, and HIPAA and PCI compliance reporting across more than 600 different logs sources from computer servers, security devices, and networking equipment across its two primary data centers. LogRhythm is processing more than 38 million events per day to detect potential security threats, policy violations, and pending operational problems on their network.

“LogRhythm enables us to centrally monitor our IT security devices, servers, and networking equipment and be automatically alerted of potential problems so we can take action to avoid data breaches, compliance violations, and operational problems,” said Dave Wiseman, Director of IT security for Saint Luke’s Health System. “By combining log management and security event management, LogRhythm aggregates in one system all the information we need to drill down into alerts to conduct security investigations, fix operational problems, and meet the regulatory compliance requirements for both HIPAA and the PCI data security standard.”

Like Saint Luke’s Health System, Esse Health is using the LogRhythm platform to collect logs from a myriad of systems and devices to meet HIPAA compliance requirements and monitor for security. Alarms provide automated alerts when critical security events and IT changes occur and are routed to the appropriate individuals within their IT teams. The powerful LogRhythm dashboard and log mart investigation tool present log and security event data in a graphical form that makes it fast and easy for IT personnel to search, analyze and report on days, weeks and months of activity.

“Maintaining data security and HIPAA compliance are two of the biggest challenges and consumers of IT resources in the health care industry today,” said Mike Reagan, Vice President of Marketing & Business Development at LogRhythm. “LogRhythm enables health care provider organizations like Saint Luke’s Health System and Esse Health to do more with less IT resources. Our integrated system for log and security event management solves time consuming compliance, security, and operations management problems through intelligent automation, while providing early warning and deep insight into potential problems so they can be fixed to contain or avoid damage.”

Quick Guide: What is Enterprise 2.0?

A lot of people are talking about Enterprise 2.0 as being the business application of Web 2.0 technology. However, there's still some debate on exactly what this technology entails, how it applies to today's business models, and which components bring true value. Some use the term Enterprise 2.0 exclusively to describe the use of social networking technologies in the enterprise, while others use it to describe a web economy platform, or the technological framework behind such a platform. Still others say that Enterprise 2.0 is all of these things. Learn More
