GlobalSpec Surpasses Six Million Registered Users Milestone

Represents 20 Percent Growth over 2009

GlobalSpec, the leading specialized search engine, information resource, e-publishing and online events company for the engineering, industrial and technical communities, today announced it has exceeded six million registered users.

ebizQ received the following:

This milestone reinforces the company’s industry-leading position as “the place” for engineers and industrial professionals to conduct essential work-related tasks more efficiently.

Over the past 18 months, GlobalSpec’s worldwide base of registered users increased by one million, growing from five million users in February 2009 to its current level of more than six million. Visitors to register in exchange for access to detailed information on more than 153 million product parts in 2.3 million product families from more than 36,000 OEM and distributor catalogs, all searchable by specification. GlobalSpec users can easily locate products, components and services from manufacturers, distributors and service providers, comparing product specs and supplier alternatives. Industrial marketers benefit from targeted media solutions that provide highly qualified sales leads, Web traffic, product promotion and brand exposure.

“This milestone represents a significant achievement in maintaining and growing our base of registered users, an accomplishment of some note given the hard recession that has affected the manufacturing/industrial sector over the past two years,” said GlobalSpec Chairman and CEO Jeffrey M. Killeen. “We’re continuing to grow at a rate of 80,000 new registered users per month. This growth serves to further validate our role as the specialized search engine of choice in the global engineering and manufacturing community.”

To provide its registered user base with even more value, GlobalSpec introduced a complete series of online, interactive events for the B2B industrial marketplace in 2009.

Attendees at the complimentary events learn about new products, technology and applications from leading manufacturers and gain valuable knowledge on news and developments relevant to their industry and profession - all from their desktops. Participants can attend sessions led by keynote speakers who are experts in their respective industries; experience the latest technology solutions; and participate in live chats with speakers and other attendees. More than 30 events have been scheduled in various engineering, manufacturing and technology-specific fields.

GlobalSpec users have access to various other products and applications designed to help them perform key job tasks accurately and productively. Over 60 product and industry specific e-newsletters are available on a wide range of topics including aerospace technology, alternative and renewable energy, MEMS technology, medical equipment design, and robotics.

GlobalSpec also offers The Engineering Web, a specialized search engine comprised of more than 250 million indexed web pages on technical content, product data sheets, application notes, material properties, patents, standards and scientific information. GlobalSpec’s CR4 online community provides a collaborative peer-to-peer user environment to ask questions and discuss issues via forums and blogs in a variety of engineering disciplines.

Quick Guide: What is Enterprise 2.0?

A lot of people are talking about Enterprise 2.0 as being the business application of Web 2.0 technology. However, there's still some debate on exactly what this technology entails, how it applies to today's business models, and which components bring true value. Some use the term Enterprise 2.0 exclusively to describe the use of social networking technologies in the enterprise, while others use it to describe a web economy platform, or the technological framework behind such a platform. Still others say that Enterprise 2.0 is all of these things. Learn More
