Vordel Launches Updated SOA Connectivity Platform

09/15/2010

Vordel, a provider of connectivity for SOA and Cloud services, unveiled version 6.0 of Vordel Gateway. With Vordel 6, the company enables enterprises to improve the control of SOA services, alleviating the issues associated with the increasing complexity and scale of SOA deployments.

Vordel 6 offers enhanced usability and interoperability, intended to help enterprises to more easily maintain a seamless and highly-controlled configuration and version change management process across the entire SOA network. These advances improve the overall productivity of engineering and architecture teams and reduce costs.

As businesses integrate their SOA and Cloud-based applications, policies have inevitably become increasingly complex. Vordel 6 provides a controlled policy lifecycle management environment simplifying service migration from development to production, from appliance to software and to virtualized Cloud-based instance. These benefits are coupled with the ability to monitor and analyze live streaming and historical data, while maintaining service performance. Additionally, Vordel provides the enterprise with a unified control framework to govern service usage and enables the efficient running of applications in SOA architectures.

“Any successful deployment of services will need effective SOA governance," says Paolo Malinverno, vice president at Gartner Research. "Companies need to ask themselves how they will address the visibility, auditability and manageability of an operational SOA scenario, where a potentially large set of moving parts (some on-premises, some in the cloud) has replaced the old, stable and well-known set of applications."

Speaking at the launch, Vordel CTO Mark O’Neill said, “With Vordel 5 the company delivered the world’s fastest XML Gateway and SOA appliance. Vordel 6 takes SOA to the next level by enabling enterprises to connect systems quickly and securely. Where other approaches require costly coding, Vordel reduces costs by only requiring drag-and-drop configuration. Using Vordel, enterprises can link .NET systems to Oracle systems, or TIBCO, or Adobe Flex, graphically and quickly. Vordel 6 delivers on the promise of "Fast, Safe, Connectivity" for the enterprise.

Quick Guide: What is Enterprise 2.0?

A lot of people are talking about Enterprise 2.0 as being the business application of Web 2.0 technology. However, there's still some debate on exactly what this technology entails, how it applies to today's business models, and which components bring true value. Some use the term Enterprise 2.0 exclusively to describe the use of social networking technologies in the enterprise, while others use it to describe a web economy platform, or the technological framework behind such a platform. Still others say that Enterprise 2.0 is all of these things. Learn More
