These include more flexible archiving capabilities that support tiered storage, improved multi-mailbox search for e-Discovery and other compliance related investigations, and faster response times when using the Outlook Web Access client for webmail. Azaleos also announced today that it has become one of the only service providers with MCM (Microsoft Certified Master) and/or MCA (Microsoft Certified Architect) technicians on staff that have been certified for both Microsoft Exchange Server and Microsoft Office Communications Server. The integration of Office Communication Server (OCS) with Microsoft Exchange Server can be complex.
With its depth of professionally qualified experts Azaleos has gained the trust of both enterprise and government customers for whom it is managing very large deployments of Exchange 2010 and OCS. The company recently announced that it was selected by the United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to migrate the agency’s approximately 20,000 user email system from a hosted offsite datacenter version of Microsoft Exchange 2003 to an on-premise deployment of Microsoft Exchange 2010, and to manage the day-to-day administration of the new messaging platform.
“Exchange 2010 SP1 delivers some much anticipated capabilities including the ability to implement new storage strategies and in some cases eliminate the need for third party archiving tools,” said Scott Gode, vice president of product management and marketing for Azaleos. “Upgrading to SP1 is not a trivial exercise, but our network operations teams handle all the heavy lifting – testing, deployment and configuration – so that Azaleos customers can take of advantage of the new features quickly and painlessly.”
Exchange 2010 Service Pack 1 Highlights
The key enhancements delivered with SP1 for Exchange 2010 address archiving, search, Outlook Web Access (OWA), and mobile device management. These include:
- The ability to provision a user’s personal archive to a different mailbox database than their primary mailbox. This allows easy implementation of separate or tiered storage strategies for less frequently accessed e-mail, and makes third party archiving systems obsolete except for environments with regulatory compliance requirements
- New multi-mailbox search capabilities which can be used to conduct e-Discovery investigations, regulatory compliance reporting, etc., as well as search preview and result de-duplication options for finding information faster
- An enhanced OWA client that increases response speeds by pre-fetching message content, allowing delete, mark as read, and categorize operations to run asynchronously and ensuring that certain long running operations, such as attaching a very large file, do not cause UI hang-ups
- Improved mobile capabilities that allow users to send and receive IRM (Information Rights Management)-protected mail without having to first connect their device to the Windows Mobile Device Center to provision IRM.
