Magic Quadrant for Web Content Management
The 2010 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Web Content Management report noted, "Buying decisions around WCM have expanded beyond the original focus of publishing content. Today's online strategies require that website owners, designers and developers consider the overall experience delivered to users and not just the content. Governments and businesses must consider Web solutions geared to engaging visitors."
Gartner bases its evaluation on the "ability to execute" and "completeness of vision." Ability to execute measures how well a company sells and supports its WCM products and services globally. Completeness of vision focuses on the vendor's potential and points to its future likelihood of success.
According to Gartner, companies that are placed in the "Leaders" quadrant "should, drive market transformation. Leaders have the highest combined scores for ability to execute and completeness of vision. They are doing well and are prepared for the future with a clearly articulated vision. They have strong channel partners, a presence in multiple regions, consistent financial performance, broad platform support and good customer support.
In addition, they dominate in one or more technologies or vertical markets. Leaders are 'environmentally aware' of the solution 'ecosystem' into which their own offerings need to fit. Leaders can: demonstrate enterprise deployments; offer integration with other business applications and content repositories; and provide a vertical-process or horizontal-solution focus."
