Jamcracker Platform Unifies Delivery and Management of Disparate Infrastructure and Application Services to Eliminate Cloud Sprawl

Jamcracker, the unified cloud services delivery and management company, today announced the Jamcracker Platform Enterprise Edition, which addresses the growing problems associated with ad hoc cloud services adoption within corporate networks.

ebizQ received the following:

The Jamcracker Platform is a comprehensive services delivery and lifecycle management solution that aggregates all cloud services – public and/or private – within an enterprise and provides a central point of control, enabling enterprise IT departments to become their own cloud service brokers.

“The adoption of cloud services at the departmental and line of business levels within enterprises can create a shadow IT infrastructure of unmanaged applications that are outside the control of IT departments,” said Amy Larsen DeCarlo, principal analyst, managed IT services for Current Analysis, a leading technology research firm. “The Jamcracker Platform enables enterprise IT to rein in unauthorized cloud services and centrally manage all applications in a consistent and controlled fashion.”

Enterprise IT as a Cloud Service Broker

The Jamcracker Platform empowers IT departments to become a cloud service broker and offer any combination of cloud-based services to their organization including private and public IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service) and SaaS (Software as a Service) solutions. To enable enterprises to unify command and control for disparate cloud services, the Jamcracker Platform allows IT organizations to offer a catalogue of aggregated services with unified provisioning, access control, administration, auditing, monitoring, support, and departmental chargebacks.

The Jamcracker Platform aggregates and delivers all cloud services from one integrated infrastructure, providing IT with unprecedented visibility and control at the enterprise as well as at the department or line of business level. From a single management interface IT departments can centrally and consistently manage multiple cloud offerings. The Enterprise Edition is based on the Jamcracker Services Delivery Network, a cloud services delivery and management solution in use by many of the world’s largest service and technology providers including Telstra, Telus, Broadsoft, and others.

One Management Platform for All Cloud Services

The Jamcracker Platform provides the following comprehensive set of capabilities to manage and integrate cloud services with existing IT infrastructures, policies, and procedures:

  • Services delivery: aggregates order management, security and policy management, user and service administration, billing and settlement, usage reporting, and helpdesk ticketing of external 3rd party cloud services.
  • Enterprise cloud catalogue: portals provide users with self-service fulfillment to all services, with automated authorization workflows, and single-sign-on access.
  • Centralized administration and policy control: allows IT to manage services and users in accordance with internal corporate governance and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Licensing: centralizes management of enterprise volume-licensing for public cloud services.
  • Service integration: enables enterprises to bring existing cloud licenses (e.g. SalesForce.com, WebEx, Microsoft BPOS or other services) under the management control of the Jamcracker Platform.
  • Infrastructure integration: toolkits and APIs can link cloud services with internal LDAP directories and databases to automate user/service authorization, provisioning and Single Sign-On.
  • Billing: publishes external services usage to internal accounting systems to facilitate departmental chargebacks.

“Many larger enterprises are struggling with the unauthorized and decentralized adoption of cloud services and are looking for a solution to control and manage these in the same way they manage traditional IT assets,” said Steve Crawford, vice president of marketing and business development for Jamcracker. “The Jamcracker Platform enables IT departments to consolidate the delivery and management of private and public cloud services in order to incur the benefits of cloud computing, but not the risks.”

Availability

The Jamcracker Platform Enterprise Edition is available immediately from Jamcracker and its business partners worldwide. For more information visit: http://www.jamcracker.com/enterprise.

Quick Guide: What is Enterprise 2.0?

A lot of people are talking about Enterprise 2.0 as being the business application of Web 2.0 technology. However, there's still some debate on exactly what this technology entails, how it applies to today's business models, and which components bring true value. Some use the term Enterprise 2.0 exclusively to describe the use of social networking technologies in the enterprise, while others use it to describe a web economy platform, or the technological framework behind such a platform. Still others say that Enterprise 2.0 is all of these things. Learn More
