The new program from McKesson and HP is designed to offer many advantages to physician practices, including increased productivity, more focus on patient care, and the benefit of McKesson’s experience with more than 100,000 practice management system deployments. As the source for solutions that improve practice performance, McKesson’s offering includes clinical and EHR software as well as business management and revenue management solutions. The company also provides connectivity solutions for health information exchange and medical-surgical equipment and supplies.

“The McKesson and HP relationship delivers trusted solutions together with the national reach and local support that will allow independent practices quick and affordable entry into EHRs,” said David Henriksen, senior vice president and general manager of Physician Practice Solutions for McKesson. “As stimulus deadlines grow closer, together we are striving to put physician practices at ease by providing technology options that will help them realize their vision of a safer, more efficient and more connected healthcare system.”

HP leads the way in technology innovation with touch, mobile computing and energy efficiency through products designed with the environment in mind. Equipment such as thin clients, notebooks and desktop PCs will be integrated into the McKesson and HP EHR offering. HP’s broad product line provides customers the flexibility to choose the right product and solution for each unique healthcare environment.

“As the majority of U.S. physician practices prepare for EHR adoption, the practice-ready solutions from McKesson and HP represent a smart choice backed by two of the most knowledgeable companies in healthcare technology,” said Chris Mertens, vice president of the Healthcare Business in the Personal Systems Group at HP. “Our expanded relationship with McKesson is designed to meet the ever-changing needs of independent physician practices with a scalable and affordable system they can count on for years to come.”

With the McKesson and HP offering, physician practices will have the opportunity to choose from a broad range of packaged software and hardware options. These include McKesson’s award-winning Practice Partner, Lytec MD and Medisoft Clinical EHR/practice management systems, all of which feature Bright Note Technology that automates physician chart processes.

The program will be executed through one of HP’s leading distributors, Tech Data. Preconfigured HP and McKesson bundles will be available through an online portal for streamlined order processing. The bundles will be configured by practice size and will include point-of-care solutions for faster input and access to patient information, improved efficiency and optimized performance. McKesson will test and certify each bundle.
