Kognitio Partners With 2e2 to Offer On-Demand Data Warehousing as a Service (DaaS)

06/22/2009

Kognitio, a provider of business intelligence (BI) and data warehousing solutions, today announced that it has awarded innovative technology services provider 2e2 a contract for the hosting of Kognitio’s Data Warehousing as a Service (DaaS™) environments.

ebizQ received the following:

Under the terms of the agreement, 2e2 will work with Kognitio to develop the use and provisioning of the service to existing and new customers. Furthermore, 2e2 will offer its current and new customers the option of using DaaS to implement their data analytics solutions, by using the scalable architecture that is already in place to offer an on-demand service.

2e2 is the first partner to offer Kognitio’s DaaS solutions to its customers, taking the technology to an even greater number of end users than was previously possible.

With the economy contracting, outsourcing is increasingly being seen as a method for organizations to gain access to the powerful business IT tools they need to stay competitive, without relying on huge capital expenditures. Outsourcing is also serving to “democratize” IT, by bringing services that previously were the preserve of only the largest organizations within the grasp of everyone with the vision to make use of them. This is especially important for business intelligence, which can be vital for organizations looking to obtain maximum value from all of their assets.

“Within the outsourcing market, DaaS is gaining traction as the preferred deployment model for powerful data analytics and warehousing,” said Roger Llewellyn, CEO and President at Kognitio. “Existing DaaS customers such as BT, Kelkoo and Scottish Power confirm that performance over comparative analytical workloads often demonstrates a greater than forty-fold improvement compared to their previous solutions. We are excited to work with 2e2 to ensure that other organizations can benefit from on-demand data warehousing.”

Whether for pricing analysis, customer development or CRM, the cost savings that can be realized via Kognitio’s DaaS means companies can meet their analytical needs without having to implement large-scale infrastructures themselves. Instead, organizations can load their data into the DaaS environment and start to analyze it in less than forty-eight hours. Since DaaS is provided on a monthly contracted basis, the initial risk and costs during the proof periods are dramatically reduced; instead, companies can leverage operational expenditure (OpEx) funds to finance this service.

In partnership with Kognitio, 2e2 offers a staged implementation process; potential users are guided through proof of concept, proof of value and into full service provision in pragmatic, affordable steps. DaaS itself can be provisioned either within a 2e2 facility or within the customer’s own walls, allowing users to determine the location that best suits their needs.

“Kognitio is all about competitive business advantage for its customers,” said Ciaran Cosgrave, Managed Services Director at 2e2 UK. “Its DaaS solution, hosted by 2e2, fits perfectly into the SaaS marketplace that 2e2 is already embracing, allowing our partnership to deliver incredibly powerful analytical solutions without any of the upfront capital outlay usually associated with such deployments.”

As part of this new service, Kognitio and 2e2 are running a one-day introductory course, free of charge, on the first Wednesday of every month. This course will demonstrate the deployment process along with the expected advantages to users. The course will also compare development, deployment and performance gains made by existing customers via live customer presentations of their experiences.

Kognitio’s DaaS fully complements 2e2’s wider Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings. 2e2 is already well established within the IT Managed Services arena, providing a comprehensive portfolio of managed service solutions designed to complement IT functions within any organization. Each solution is created and tailored through a rigorous process of specification, implementation, management and review, utilizing best practice in process, methodologies and tools.

Quick Guide: What is Enterprise 2.0?

A lot of people are talking about Enterprise 2.0 as being the business application of Web 2.0 technology. However, there's still some debate on exactly what this technology entails, how it applies to today's business models, and which components bring true value. Some use the term Enterprise 2.0 exclusively to describe the use of social networking technologies in the enterprise, while others use it to describe a web economy platform, or the technological framework behind such a platform. Still others say that Enterprise 2.0 is all of these things. Learn More
