LongJump Introduces "No-Compromise Cloud Computing"

06/03/2009

Today at the JavaOne Conference LongJump, a leading provider of software that powers Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), announced the availability of the newest release of their leading platform - the LongJump Business Applications Platform, version 6.2.

ebizQ received the following:

This new release includes features that enable enterprises and ISVs to quickly develop and deliver secure web applications that squarely address unique business problems or a specific vertical market. Reflecting the increased business investment in software as a service initiatives, this year's JavaOne will showcase 22 sessions dedicated to cloud computing.

"We recognize that time-to-market for new SaaS-based applications is critically important -- and applaud LongJump's use of MySQL databases to help shorten the deployment path," said Mark Herring, vice president, MySQL and Software Infrastructure marketing, Sun Microsystems. "By implementing a software stack of Java and MySQL software running on Sun systems, LongJump is looking to accelerate developers' ability to build internal and public solutions faster than has been previously possible."

PaaS Approach Should Not Dictate Loss of Control Too often when developers evaluate platforms for building their multi-tenant solutions, the vendors are requiring that they compromise their level of control across a spectrum of key areas, including: deployment options, branding flexibility, extensibility of new developer added features, nonstandard technology, program language and programming model, and even customer ownership.

LongJump Delivers Developers and ISVs Extensive Control LongJump, on the other hand, provides all these benefits while also offering developers and businesses a high level of control, customization and extensibility. LongJump's "Extensible PaaS" approach enables enterprises to create a common, industry standards-based, private business application cloud for integrating their legacy application data. Further, LongJump also enables ISVs to leverage a comprehensive business application platform as the foundation for developing and launching their uniquely branded SaaS products.

On-Demand Applications with Greater Usability, Security, and Depth The new features of LongJump, geared towards private cloud applications, focus on giving developers enhanced tools to automatically create unique and dynamic user experiences, certifying information and processes, and adding greater depth to the data model.

Flexible, Rich Internet Application Presentation Choices

  • Dynamic, Rule-based Layouts that automatically adjust the section and field visibility based on business rules and criteria. * Multiple Layout Styles including wizard, accordion, tab and sectional and mixed mode layouts so developers can select the best method for viewing or editing information. * Multiple View Styles including list, tree and thumbnail and mixed mode views provide developers with flexibility in how users interact with application data. * Role-based Workspace Configuration Control lets developers present dynamic data, widgets, or other useful application information.

Multiple Language Support to Communicate with More of the World

  • Translation Workbench lets developers create and publish a multi-tenant application in multiple languages. Each user sees the language specific to their profile.

Secure Platform for Compliance-Sensitive Applications (CFR 21 Part 11)

  • Digital Signature Support including multiple hierarchical signature blocks. * Field-level Change Tracking and Auditing and record level event driven snapshots.

Advanced Programming Constructs For More Productive Development

  • Data Model Inheritance: N-level object inheritance support creates design efficiency. * Workflow Inheritance support for workflows created on parent objects will be inherited by child objects. Also applies to data policies, validations, layouts and indexes. * Object Model Viewer helps developers visualize entity relationships. * Automated Remote Package Deployment further streamlines the process of packaging and deploying applications between development, testing and production instances. * Automated Upgrades provide the developer with controls to either automatically push grades, let the user manually upgrade, or selectively upgrade groups of subscribers.

"Taking your business to a SaaS delivery model requires a robust, mature approach with a very rich set of tools," said Pankaj Malviya, Founder and CEO of LongJump. "With this latest enhanced release, we're providing developers from private enterprise, to government agencies, to international corporations with a flexible, secure platform to deliver applications that outfit them with the solution and broad toolset to design and build applications that unique fit their business. LongJump is delivering a no-compromise cloud solution."

Invitation to Webinar "Developing and Deploying SaaS Applications with MySQL and LongJump" Interested parties are also invited to join a co-presentation where LongJump will discuss in greater detail how organizations of all types can quickly build and deliver SaaS applications in a free webinar entitled, "Developing and Deploying SaaS Applications with MySQL and LongJump." The webinar will feature Brian Gerhold, Director of Engineering at Simco Electronics (http://www.simco.com). - Date: Thursday, June 11, 2009 - Time: 1 P.M. PDT / (4:00 P.M.
