Paradigm Posts Scientific Challenge to InnoCentive's Open Innovation Approach Seeks New Advanced Method for 3D Fracture Net Representation
11/19/2008
Paradigm, a provider of enterprise software solutions to the global oil and natural gas exploration and production (E&P) industry, announces that it has posted a scientific challenge to InnoCentive's Open Innovation
Marketplace. Paradigm's challenge prompts InnoCentive's Solver
community to develop an advanced approach to fracture net
representation. The announcement was made at the 78th Annual Meeting
of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) in Las Vegas.
ebizQ received the following:
Paradigm's challenge specifically targets a unique new ability to
combine fault interpretation picks (vectors) to form high-performance
representations of 3D fracture networks. Paradigm's advanced 3D
fracture net representation would enable easier facilitation geometric
inquiries, on displacements at fault locations and in aggregate and
topological tests, on connectedness.
What happens when you combine BI, BPM and BRE? The answer is right here.
"Paradigm has a history of open innovation that shaped, and continues
to shape, its product line for over 20 years," said Duane Dopkin,
Paradigm senior vice president of technology. "About 15 years ago, we
instituted a program which allowed oil industry geophysicists to
contribute algorithms effectively 'etching' their signature on a
global and commercially available system. By working with InnoCentive
today, Paradigm is again challenging the broader E&P community to
recognize open innovation as a viable and desirable approach to
accelerate advanced technology development for the oil and gas
industry."
Paradigm signed a contract with InnoCentive in October 2008 to augment
internal technology development and accelerate innovation delivery to
the industry. The company plans on posting additional critical
high-priority challenges on InnoCentive for open innovation. The
agreement connects Paradigm's science and technology experts with
InnoCentive's global network of "Solvers," a community of progressive
physicists, chemists, mathematicians, and other scientists.
