Oracle partners with Semantic Web company Expert System

Expert System, the provider of semantic software that discovers, classifies and interprets text information, today announces it has joined the Oracle® PartnerNetwork as a worldwide member. Expert System's COGITO® Semantic Intelligence Engine is a natural fit with the Oracle Spatial option of Oracle Database 11g, which enables the industry's first open, scalable, secure and reliable RDF (Resource Description Framework) management platform for Semantic Web applications.

ebizQ received the following:

The integration of Expert System's COGITO software with Oracle's Business Intelligence (BI) and Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) software enables both companies to support customers with one of the most comprehensive semantic intelligence and business analytics solutions available today.

Expert System is participating in the Oracle PartnerNetwork in the Database, Enterprise Manager, Enterprise Content Management, Business Intelligence and Business Intelligence Applications product focus areas with a specialization in the rapidly growing Semantic Web. Together, COGITO and Oracle's leading BI Solutions deliver a complete, integrated system for managing, optimizing and semantically analyzing internal and external content that greatly affects a business's bottom line. Expert System's COGITO Semantic Intelligence Engine identifies the structural and lexical aspects of text, identifies the conceptual links between various documents, and carries out disambiguation and advanced semantic comprehension operations.

Expert System chose to work with Oracle because the company is constantly working to help shape, drive, implement and support the latest open standards for the Semantic Web. Oracle is a W3C member and actively participates in various technical working groups such as the OWL WG and the Data Access WG. Through the Oracle Spatial option, Oracle is also committed to supporting standards specifications for RDF, RDFS, OWL and SPARQL.

"Expert System is proud to be part of the Oracle PartnerNetwork," said J. Brooke Aker, CEO of Expert System's U.S. subsidiary. "Oracle is a leader in managing and driving enterprise-wide intelligence and Expert System is the engine identifying and analyzing that intelligence. Working together, we can give customers the insight to make smarter and more effective business decisions."

Expert System provides the most advanced and complete inference engine on the market today, achieving 85 to 90 percent precision and recall on any electronic text. Along with Oracle Database's Semantic Web features, the partnership brings the power and value of semantic analysis to business applications. These advanced knowledge management features support semantic applications in domains ranging from national intelligence and financial fraud detection to life sciences. The combination provides world-class performance, scalability, security and manageability to semantic data assets, while helping to reduce business costs.

Quick Guide: What is Enterprise 2.0?

A lot of people are talking about Enterprise 2.0 as being the business application of Web 2.0 technology.
