Pentaho and SGI Team to Deliver Cost-Effective Scalable BI

09/22/2008

Pentaho, the commercial open source alternative for business intelligence (BI), today announced a collaboration with SGI (NASDAQ: SGIC) to deliver cost-effective analytic scalability and performance.

ebizQ received the following:

The companies have integrated the top BI capabilities of Pentaho BI Suite Enterprise Edition with highly scalable SGI® Adaptive Data Warehouse solutions, enabling organizations with massive data stores to take advantage of Pentaho's increasingly popular commercial open source BI solution. Representatives from Pentaho will showcase the solution with SGI at Oracle OpenWorld 2008 in booth 3418, West Hall.

SGI Adaptive Data Warehouse combines industry-leading Oracle database software with SGI® Altix® servers and SGI® InfiniteStorage systems in a platform that scales to meet the needs of customers whose requirements extend beyond the capabilities of traditional enterprise computers. SGI Adaptive Data Warehouse delivers faster query performance on industry standard technology and delivers the most flexible architecture with lower TCO for growing data warehouses. The highly scalable Pentaho BI Suite provides a full spectrum of BI capabilities including reporting, analysis, dashboards, data mining and data integration, along with a BI platform, making it the first choice for BI implementations at a growing number of enterprises.

"SGI Adaptive Data Warehouse solutions were built to support the most complex decision support demands of organizations with massive amounts of data," said Don Whitehead, Director of Marketing, Data Warehousing at SGI. "The Pentaho BI Suite and SGI Adaptive Data Warehouse solution create a compelling solution that easily scales to meet the BI needs of these organizations. With its breadth of offerings, Pentaho's commercial open source platform becomes a very smart choice for the most demanding BI applications."

"Our commercial open source model has helped us grow tremendously over the last few years, and Pentaho is now clearly competing head-to-head against the BI industry elites based on our scalability, simplicity and breadth," said Richard Daley, founder and CEO of Pentaho. "Our teaming with SGI is further validation that the Pentaho BI Suite meets the needs of the broadest range of customer requirements from small and medium businesses to the most complex, large-scale BI endeavors."
