Software AG announced webMethods Insight, a new addition to its SOA management suite that brings enhanced visibility and control to SOA runtime environments.
ebizQ received the following:
Software AG announced the availability of webMethods Insight, a new solution for the runtime management of heterogeneous SOA environments. The latest release leverages out-of-the-box integration with CentraSite and builds upon new strategic OEM partnership with Progress Software for the Actional line of products.
webMethods Insight provides enterprises with monitoring, policy enforcement and provisioning of runtime services. With deep integration with CentraSite, Software AG's SOA governance solution governance, webMethods Insight helps users optimize service performance across the entire SOA lifecycle.
“With enterprise adoption of SOA moving increasingly to business-critical implementations, architects and application owners require far greater transparency and accountability over their distributed and heterogeneous SOA environments. webMethods Insight addresses these requirements as a means for helping enterprises consistently meet their service consumers’ expectations for reliability, performance and availability,” said Dr. Peter Kürpick, chief product officer and member of the executive management board for Software AG. “webMethods Insight also capitalizes on out-of-the-box, field-tested integration with CentraSite. As a result, service portfolio and change management are greatly simplified as run-time information is automatically populated and updated within CentraSite. This also means that discrepancies, such as unknown services and unauthorized consumers, are more readily identified, investigated and resolved. The addition of webMethods Insight ultimately advances our strategy of providing the industry’s most comprehensive, end-to-end SOA infrastructure offering.”
A critical challenge confronting any SOA implementation is the need to manage services within a distributed environment for optimal performance and reliability. Lacking real-time visibility and control over the run-time environment, enterprises often struggle to anticipate operational changes, minimize subsequent disruptions, and ensure full compliance with SOA processes, policies and contracts.
webMethods Insight addresses these requirements by delivering extended visibility and control over distributed SOA landscapes, according to SOftware AG. The minimal overhead required by webMethods Insight ensures more rapid deployment, ‘smart’ monitoring, and deeper management of the end-to-end SOA landscape. This is in stark contrast with earlier approaches to run-time management, which created additional cost and complexity, constrained run-time performance, and reinforced existing service silos. Integrated analytics within webMethods Insight deliver the critical insight needed to ensure both fault-free and optimal execution of service transactions. Reporting data can be consumed directly within webMethods Insight or published to CentraSite.
webMethods Insight enables users to gain real-time insight into service performance; automatically detect invocation patterns and map service dependences; and discover and document ad-hoc business processes requiring formalized management.
The new solution also helps manage service-level agreements centrally for consistent, enterprise-wide enforcement; take advantage of real-time metrics to actively manage services and to proactively alert users of pending service-level agreement (SLA) violations; and utilize root-cause analysis to resolve discrepancies faster.
webMethods Insight also enables users to implement ‘last mile security' so that users cannot bypass defined security, privacy, and regulatory requirements; identify rogue services and bring them into the governance process; and monitor policy-related activities to preempt potential problems.
Developed in partnership with Progress Software, webMethods Insight is a unique configuration of the Actional product line optimized for the demanding requirements of Software AG customers.
webMethods Insight will be available exclusively from Software AG as of October 1, 2008. In conjunction with this announcement, Software AG is hosting a global customer webinar on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 18:00 CST/17:00 BST/12:00 EDT/9:00 PDT.

This conference will teach business leaders what to expect, and what to avoid, to make their SOA journey a success. SOA is a long journey, not a single project, and distributed architectures are inherently complex. Success requires new ways of working, creating more efficient cross organization processes, adopting new tools, and building new skills.Register

A lot of people are talking about Enterprise 2.0 as being the business application of Web 2.0 technology. However, there's still some debate on exactly what this technology entails, how it applies to today's business models, and which components bring true value. Some use the term Enterprise 2.0 exclusively to describe the use of social networking technologies in the enterprise, while others use it to describe a web economy platform, or the technological framework behind such a platform. Still others say that Enterprise 2.0 is all of these things. Learn More
