SpringCM Announces On-Demand ECM Suite

08/13/2008

SpringCM, the on-demand document management and workflow company, today announced SpringCM Version 4.4, the newest version of the company's award-winning Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) document management and workflow platform.

ebizQ received the following:

SpringCM 4.4 marks the addition of Records Management as well as several new process automation and usability enhancements designed to improve business performance and to automate document-centric processes.

BPM has helped many top financial services organizations sharpen their focus on their number one asset: their customers. Sharpen your BPM skills here.

"Demand for records management continues to grow and this capability is an imperative if organizations are to effectively implement an enterprise information retention program," said Kenneth Chin, research VP at Gartner Research. "These products are being increasingly integrated into the organization's content management infrastructure as a service, rather than operating as stand-alone records management systems." Highlights of SpringCM 4.4

Records Management — The new records management capability in SpringCM 4.4 is designed to help organizations comply with internal and external content retention requirements and to facilitate e-discovery, all within the normal process of conducting business. SpringCM 4.4 delivers a practical and cost-effective approach to addressing key records management and e-discovery functions including the ability to:

  • Define retention schedules for electronic documents, e-mails, etc.

  • Consolidate e-mails, electronic documents and scanned images into a single searchable repository.

  • Automatically assign retention policies based upon record classification.

  • Apply the OCR process to faxes, PDFs and Microsoft Office documents to allow content inside files to be fully text searchable.

  • Support legal holds, records declarations and destruction workflows.

  • Search records based upon discovery criteria.

  • Classify each document with discovery-specific metadata.

  • Enable internal and external counsel to collaborate in a secure, Web-based production environment.

By combining records management with SpringCM's existing enterprise-class capture, document management and process automation capabilities, SpringCM 4.4 enables organizations to manage the complete content lifecycle in a single on-demand platform.

Bulk Upload and Migration - This capability enables users to quickly import documents and existing metadata into SpringCM from legacy document stores. This process can now be automated by categorizing any number of documents with unique business attributes, thereby avoiding hours of manually tagging each document. Bulk Upload and Migration is also a key component used to integrate with the release process found in third-party scanning solutions.

Additional Enhancements — In addition to these major new capabilities, SpringCM 4.4 includes over 15 other major feature enhancements including:

  • Advanced Workflow Usability Improvements — The Workflow Inbox and user interaction with Advanced Workflow have been streamlined. Users can view and take actions on documents in one simple screen, and related documents are now available within each workflow step. Process workers can now easily sort through their tasks in the Inbox by clicking the Next or Previous buttons.

  • Improved Integration with salesforce.com — SpringCM has enhanced its support for the salesforce.com sandbox environment, allowing companies to connect SpringCM to the sandbox environment of salesforce.com and test the experience before exposing it to users.

  • Enhanced Support for Faxed Documents — In SpringCM 4.4, it is now easier to manage faxes received in bulk that need to be split into smaller groups. Retained information will now stay with the original fax and all attributes and categorization will be automatically applied to the split fax documents.

Dan Carmel, CEO of SpringCM, stated, "The challenge for organizations today is balancing the productivity gains from document management and process automation with the records retention requirements increasingly imposed by internal compliance policies and regulatory bodies. SpringCM 4.4 is the first platform to deliver the benefits of automation and collaboration with comprehensive records management capabilities — all delivered with the low cost, rapid deployment and other advantages of the on-demand delivery model."

Quick Guide: What is Enterprise 2.0?

A lot of people are talking about Enterprise 2.0 as being the business application of Web 2.0 technology. However, there's still some debate on exactly what this technology entails, how it applies to today's business models, and which components bring true value. Some use the term Enterprise 2.0 exclusively to describe the use of social networking technologies in the enterprise, while others use it to describe a web economy platform, or the technological framework behind such a platform. Still others say that Enterprise 2.0 is all of these things. Learn More
