Takeaway: Within the past couple of weeks, the acronym WOA has started floating around the Web. In the blogosphere, opinions differ. Some feel that WOA is just another TLA and does not represent anything new, but others feel that the concept of WOA is new and could be a catalyst for innovation even if the actual technical components are not new.
As compared to SOA, WOA involves more REST and RIA and mashup technology rather than BPEL engines, middleware, and ESBs. WOA could speak more to the goals of businesspeople and ultimately eliminate the lines between service providers and consumers.
